  • Betzone: why no US residents?

I'm sure you aren't looking to turn down such a large chunk of the world's business for nothing, but could you tell me why we aren't allowed to have accounts there? I went to open one today to bet MLS, and your bases dime line, but noooooo.

tried last year too (even from up here in the Great White North) when they still had the RAMS at 75:1 in DECEMBER!!!

but to no avail. hell if i really beleived they'd have paid it, i'd have gotten on a plane and flew over there to bet.

      pay2play,

If this were a SAT question with multiple choice, I d think it would go something like this.

      a. intimidated by US dept. of justice.

      b. intimidated by action(size of post up)

      c. they know you as a sharp player.

      d. all of the above

Just bouncing some scenarios at you.--Ron

Not that I know much about them, but I believe than Betzone and Betmaker are one and the same, but their administration is split up so that Betzone deals with the UK and Europe, while Betmaker deals with the US. Should be the same book with the same lines though.

            Cons,
Betmaker was bought by Sportingbet, and their site logo now says something like "A Sportingbet Company"
I pulled up bases lines for all three sites, and all three were different, and all dimes, too. But the software for BZ and BM, at least the wagering part, looked to be the same. I don't know.
I was glad to see the line difference between Bmaker and SpB (4 cents on Atl, 4 on Mont, 0 on fla, 1 on the mets, 3 on the reds, were the ones I wrote down). I have an account at SpB and I was wondering if there was any point in adding Bmaker.

Ronbets, there must be something up with BZ, like maybe they have US ownership. But I will say, after getting into soccer betting, that I have much more respect for Yank BM's. Our biggest wimp BM's got more balls than the furreners (except Aussies, granted). The lines these guys post on games makes me sick. Sportingbet had a 1/2 goal line on an MLS game Wednesday, just a typical line, 3/4 and 3/4, which translates to -1.33, -1.33. And that's not at all as bad as it gets. It always amazes me that BM's, wanting us to gamble, earning their living off gambling, are always so frightened of gambling the least little bit themselves. Not as hypocritical as Kyl and Co., but not as far removed as they might think.

well, the soccer thing is interesting, as it seems that anyone sticks their neck out - they get whacked - as soccer bookies seem to take bigger bets in general, plus you have a world market and far more people betting on it

of course, the Asian illegals seem to survive with a 10c line

Most of the places that offer 1/2 ball markets are still in the business of offering 3 way action, and don't want one to strangle the other. Pretty stupid thinking, but soccer bookies are used to 112% markets in general, and aren't in much of a hurry to change.

One of the few that do both, and to a tight market, are Canbet. They get most of my action these days.

                  Boris,
Agreed on Canbet. Last Wednesday I nagged at them via e-mail to post MLS lines, which they did three hours to post, which enabled me to double my winnings (sorry CB but at least I'm plugging you here). I notice today they've got them up already for tomorrow. And they are the fairest lines by far that I find.

Cons, Pay2play, AV2, and everybody else,

I thought that I should hop in here to clear up some misconceptions. betmaker was recently purchased by sportingbet, that is very true. However, we have absolutely no affiliation with betzone.com. While they are a solid out, there is no relation between sportingbet/betmaker and betzone.

If anybody has any questions, feel free to contact me at 888-238-2238 or via email at custserv@betmaker.com. Thank you and best of luck!

Jake, I'm sorry to say but I find that extremely hard to believe, no matter how hard I try. There are several sections on both sites which are almost idential. It simply can't be a coincidence. If I go into a McDonalds in one country and then go abroad, I will recognize a similarity straight away. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

What I would really like to know is what your relationship is. You coming here and denying it has simply put a BIG 'stay away' sign on both your sportsbooks. Denial for no apparent reason has me believing that there must be something going on which you are trying to hide. I wan't born yesterday. There is a clear link between the two. I would just like to know what it is.

                        Jake,
                        thanks for replying.

I noticed you have different lines on bases than Sportingbet. Is this true of you and them in all sports, and will it remain true? If so, then there's reason to open an account with you, but if the plans are to merge the companies, meaning, book the same line, than of course there's no point. I'm hoping your lines will be different, because I know you guys are a safe out.

                          Cons,

Web design can be similar/the same/same company - doesn't mean the sportsbooks are the same

you could buy the same house off a plan as me, and run a different business out of it

and their offers and lines are different - i.e. betmaker has not had all the soccer betzone has had, etc.

I can vouch for the fact that Betzone has no releationship with Sportingbet-Betmaker.

                              100% separate company/ownership
