Repost from end of last thread....

I want the author to answer up here as the rest of you do....

My 2 cents is this, Obviously the book made a mistake on the line -110 when it should have been -170. Actually the key puncher of the odds thought it read -110 instead of -170.
        Easy mistake to happen....

Without knowing the book we cannot make a distinguished examination of prior history or dealings such as this.

I do almost all my baseball bets on overnights, I see a bad line, I e-mail them or try to call them and advise.

It is rare I get a response back via e-mail thanking me for bringing this to their attention. Heck the one book states we are there 24 hours a day..... The line stayed the same all night long and almost til game time and was way way off.....

I called them, they state we must have missed this....

Now I ask about all the people that bet this game, is it their fault the book missed the boat ????

I didnt bet the game nor wouldn't.... I did what I thought was right. I wasn't looking for any bonus, but hey if they want to give it, I wont turn it away...

Now this mlbfan, wants our help.......

We have only 1 side of the story and that's it..... Heck the shop in question may not even know about this post, and can't reply....

I say name the shop, let us know who we are dealing with...... If it is an honorable shop, they will do the right thing, if it a bottom rate book, well you get what you pay for....

I am concerned over this, you say hockey and boxing were involved in this bet.....

Hockey season ended June 10th.... Now if boxing was involved normally it is a big event or at least big names....

June 3rd and June 10 hockey took place which were Saturdays..... Not sure what big fight came about but we know it wasn't the tyson fight.... Perhaps the de la hoya fight was involved...

My concern is why wait so long to come here and post this.....

There are 2 sides to every coin, and until I hear the shops side of the story, I reserve the right to back you, and suggest others do the same. Afterall we have many many unanswered, loopholes, and twists to this situation.

Also, step up and say who you really are...

My 2 cents worth, as on Dragnet....

Just the facts just the facts, and we need a lot more.....

Right now the glass is 1/2 full and 1/2 empty....

              Bighands,

I tend to agree. Outside of the fact they kept booking this guys bets it doesn't sit right with me. Even though a majority of the posters here feel this guy should get payed under the you booked it you pay it theme, it smells fishy to me. Sometimes you get a feeling and have to go with it. Would love to know the book involved and call them to get their side of the story. Then I could make an informed decision.

                  DEVIL,
I WOULDN'T WAN'T THIS TO AFFECT OUR LUNCH DATE BUT THIS GOES BACK TO THE SAME THING.

                  THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT.

THIS WAS AN ON-GOING SITUATION ALA BW/NASA.

THE BOOK IN QUESTION APPARENTLY WAS DEALING WEAK OVERNIGHT LINES.

THE PLAYER TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT.

IF YOU OR I WAS PLAYING WE WOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING.

THEN AFTER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME THE BOOK WANTS TO CLAIM FOUL BECAUSE THE PLAYER CONTINUED TO BEAT HIM?

                  C'MON...

IF THE PLAYER WAS NOT WARNED ABOUT THE SITUATION, HE HAS TO GET PAID.

CHASE THE PLAYER AFTER YOU PAY HIM IF YOU WANT, AND ALSO MAKE SURE YOU CHASE THE GUY IN THE BOX WHO LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU...

In my opinion, if a player bets a line that is an obvious mistake, he should contact the book and let them decide what they want to do about it.

In the 80s, when I was just getting started in Vegas, the Hilton put up a baseball line with the wrong favorite. I took something like + 120 on a game that should have been
-130. I left the casino with the ticket, but decided that I should go back to see if they would say anything. When a supervisor saw me in the sportsbook, he motioned me to the counter and told me that I could keep and cash the ticket (if it won), but that if I did so, I would be 86ed from the Hilton. Not wanting to get 86ed, and knowing I had capitalized on a careless error, I returned the ticket.

Nice point by Reality. Bighands, what does this statement have to do with whether the guy should be paid or not. At the very worst, the book in question should adjust the line to fair odds of -170 and reduced the bet sizes to 1/2(to account for double playing-WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PROVE BY THE WAY).If the bets lost, would they have voided the bets? Dont think so. You are going to have to come up with a lot better reason that player should not be payed. Any book that cuts off a book because they do not want shoppers should be given a 1 way ticket to the CLINK. PERIOD. Any book guilty of putting up as many bad overnight lines as this book supposedly has deserves to be burned, and needs to take Dukey's advice and hire a $6.00 an hour clerk to check the competition.

As far as your point that no book in the world would honor the bets. Have to disagree with that. Didn't Olympic open a NCAA total line 12 points below norm and get burned(thought I read that here). I believe the bet was honored.

I am sure there are 2 sides of this story, and agree that book should be named, but cannot agree that based off the story we have been given that player deserves to be stiffed.

                        Hold on.

I believe that a bad line should be honored. The book should pay the customers in instances like that. You booked it you pay it. Something is sticking in my craw about this. There is something we don't know. A solid book is not going to risk his reputation for 20 dimes. True we don't know which book it is but most of them read these forums and could identify with the problem.

My feeling is either A) the problem doesn't really exist or B) The book has resolved the problem and doesn't know we are talking about him. We don't even know what the bets were supposed to be. MLBFAN has been very clear on some points but vague on others. The others are what we need to make a clear cut decision. To say you booked it you pay it is not enough for me in this case..

Reality, If you think you can weasel out of dinner with some kind of phony disagreement on this subject. I say to you, You invited us, you pick up the check.

                          Hi,
Please be assured that the book was made aware of my intent to post prior to the posting and since my posting. A copy of an email sent to the book follows.

                          mlbfan

                          ----------
                          Hi,
The last time we spoke you said that you were confident that if I posted to Bettorsworld the response from the public would be in support of the way that you have handled my situation. I emailed you the write-up that I intended to post but I did not get a response from you. I had really hoped to get a response from you since I wanted to include your side of the story for any points where you disagreed with the way I described what happened. Even though you did not respond to my email, I am sure you will find that I provided an accurate account (condensed version from what I originally emailed you) of what happened. Please understand that I am not using extortion as a means to try and reach a fair settlement. Personally, I still think you are a reputable book that has made a mistake in judgment on this isolated incident. For that reason I have done everything I can to protect your company when posting this information. I have described the situation without giving the name of your company and I even avoided giving the names of the team involved on the overnight line in order to make sure people are not able to figure out this dispute is with your company.

The overwhelming response has been in my favor. Even the few people who have posted that have supported your side seemed to do it because they think that I am leaving something out and there is more to the story. I have not left anything out.

There are several post where people are angry with the way your company has handled my situation. They are demanding to hear a response from your company. They are demanding that I reveal the name of your company. I do not want to reveal the name of your company because I don't want your good reputation to be harmed. However, I also think that some consideration should be given to the reevaluation of the circumstances in my dispute.

If you haven't already, please take a look on the Bettorsworld web site under Oddswiz Rants & Raves. The post is titled: "Book Cancels $20,000 Winning Bet". After reading these posts, I think it is only fair for you to be able to respond if there is anywhere that I have misstated your account of the story. Possibly you could respond by contacting Jeff at Bettorsworld and having him post your response.

My belief is that even with clarification of any points from your point of view, the overwhelming response will still be one in which the public thinks your company has not provided me with a fair settlement. If that turns out to be the case, I sincerely hope you will give some more thought to accepting my offer of a $16,000 settlement. On the other hand, if the overwhelming response is one in which the public thinks your company has provided me with a fair settlement, we can both move on.

Please believe me when I say I don't want your company's good name to be damaged. To that end I have even stood up for your company in one of my responses to a post where several individuals were demanding me to provide the name of your company. That post and my response are pasted below:

                          From Dot Mix:
I think you should be paid every cent owed to you, but until you reveal the sportsbook and some concern for others here you fall under my category of "dirtball".

                          My Response:
I'm sorry that you feel that I'm a "dirtball". I don't think giving the name of the book is the right thing to do at this point. The book is one with a good reputation and I had no problems with the way I was handled up until this point over a 2-year period. I think someone there messed up big time and I'm being the fall guy. The way they have handled this one situation is possibly a one-time mistake where they have exercised extremely poor judgment and I feel that it is right to give them a chance to see what others in the betting public feel. After all, they welcomed me to post here because they were confident that there would be overwhelming response in the book's favor. Once they see that there is not overwhelming response in their favor they deserve a chance to correct any wrongdoing. I do appreciate all the posts.

                          Thanks,

                          Comment

                              MLBFAN,

You keep putting your side up in black and white with no gray area. The more you post the way your posting you will gain more and more favorable support for you cause from the members of BettorsWorld. However you won't get mine until I get more facts..

Maybe because I have dealt with scammers and players that look to circumvent the rules of gaming and fair play all my life, I find your story not unbelivable but not totally true.

I can see trying to protect your money by protecting the book, but you still don't get my vote until I know more. I, unlike others will not jump on your boat until I get all the facts. I'm not from Missouri but you have to show me MORE
