  • I have some questions, would like some answers...

I received this magazine in the mail called Insiders Football Betting guide 2000 (college edition)

Inside this magazine is some articles from s-ting and the doctor ken.

Did anyone else get this ?

In this publication it lists the top 10 sportsbook in the world, and to be honestI haven't heard of half of them.

Here is the list in order

    1 nasa
    2 millenium sports
    2a wwts
    3 first fidelty deposit trust
    4 badlands
    5 mvp sports
    6 jaguar sports
    7 infinity sports international
    8 payoffs plus
    9 post time

Has anyone heard of or used # 3 thru 8 and know anything about these places.

Also this book is loaded with Phil Steele stuff, I am wondering what to think of all this. Anyone that has received this, I actually received 7 of them for whatever reason what did you think of this?

I appreciate your input on those books, not that I am looking to sign up, but curious if any of these have a common denominator or some connection.

    Thanks

The FBG publication is in its third or fourth year now, I think. It has been consistently suspicious in its recommendations. Several well-established books are there, along with several others no one has ever heard of.

Their recommended sports (tout) services were the same way. My opinion, and that of others I know, is that this publication is set up to favor the advertisers and authors, rather than give unbiased recommendations.

I take it one step further: any advertiser that particpates in this publication get a black mark in my book.

      Sportshobby,
I agree with you for sure. My question is which publications(if there are any) actually do homework to rank the sportsbooks?
It seems that to do that would take a great deal of time and would be circumstantial. I guess the only way to know which books deserve to be ranked is to read posting forums like this(with a grain of salt) and look for substantial information.

I've heard of #3. They used to advertise
on the radio a lot. That of course
doesn't mean squat. #5 was mentioned
at one of the other forum's not long
ago. They were recommended by a few
people as being a good book, with
        high limits I believe. #6 I've
also heard of. I think it was here.
Think they have some contest of $100
        free accounts periodically.

Overall I've heard that the FBG is kind
        of fishy.

Fidelity has been around.....I'm told MVP and badlands are on the feist feed. What's that mean? Maybe nothing, but alot of people use the feist feed, and if there were problems, word would get around quickly, what with the books being somewhat in the public eye.

The list is what it is. A paid advertisement. NASA is ranked number one. NASA also has a flyer sent out WITH the betting guide, and ads in the guide.

NASA is "ranked" number one by many websites and publications for one reason.....the websites and publications are paid to say that.

Again, it's all marketing. That's not to say that NASA or anyone else on the list doesn't deserve to be on that list or any other list, it's all a matter of opinion.

Is there really a way to determine who the number one, or the top ten sportsbooks are? Of course not.

But you HAVE to read in to exactly what it is.......an ad.

First Fidelity Trust Deposit located in Costa Rica, licensed in 1991. I almost tried them out a few months ago. I said to myself, will I or will I not?

I went to their site, check the details and found out they are offering "55%" sign-up bonus. I finally said to myself, "NO THANK YOU"

Being licensed in Costa Rica since 1991 is quite impressive since Costa Rica has never licensed anyone. there is no such thing as an offshore gaming license in Costa Rica.

Freak, Use this site and a site called ********** to find out who the best off-shore books are. Don't rely on a list that is bought and paid for by the people on the list.

First Fidelity is sending promotional letters out to sports service operators promising to pay them 25% of the losses of their own clients. Isn't that great? Clients pay a service for their picks. They recommend this "great, solid" out to them, and then they get paid TWICE for the losers they so expertly handicap!

The betting guide is a genius product of Greg Silvera of California. It is simply an advertisement. The thing draws customers really well.

How much does it cost to advertise in publications like this. I see forums posting in them, along with the sportsbooks, and 900#'s.

Just curious as to how much, and what kind of return they may get on it.

                        Freak,

Obviously not so much as they keep doing it.

Though you can argue as to the purpose of the rag, there is quite a bit of good info in it.

I think that it is worth reading for its information content. Ignore the BS.

                          freak,
Number 4 (badlands) like Jeff said is definately a feist feed. Haven't used them so can't speak from that angle but thought I'd give what I know.

Here's my take on the books in question:

#3 - I contacted because I was generally interested in opening an account awhile back. The 55% bonus deal was a red flag that translated into NO WAY. I also found the director of marketing to be quite a hard-ass, trying to give me a hard sell, like he was doing me a favor. Didn't appreciate his tactics, and thus, I opted not to trust my loot with this kind of character.

#6 - Have experience with this book and I must say with complete honesty that the two guys I have dealt with there are absolutely fantastic! They have an incredible bonus plan and great odds. Check them out, I definitely recommend them to anyone who wants another out. I'm not out for a refferal...call and ask for Austin.

It just so happens that every book you mentioned, that advertises in Phil Steele's publication, is endorsed by another "monitoring" site that I will not name. What does this mean? I really couldn't tell you...it's just some info. for you to chew on. Who is the org. that endorses these books? I am certain you can figure out the 4 letter entity I am speaking of...

                            Happy hunting!

                              hcunited,

I am curious as to what monitoring site you speak of.

Also this organization must be the same one that offers to pay up to $100,000 if one of these books goes belly up or stiffs a client. Of course there was no phone # or e-mail address or web site to go to if any of those situation occured.

There is some good info in it, to be put to use, so don't think this is a slam on the mag as a whole. I am just enquiring about these so called best of the best books.
