  • College betting in Vegas finished?

Saw that it passed the first step today and its only a matter of time. I wish I was wrong, but it will pass in both the Senate and House whether this year or next. Can't fathom going into a Vegas book and not seeing college up on the board. They're such fools thinking that eliminating legal forms of gambling does any good whatsoever. Oh well, won't affect me pther than stopping me from going to Vegas during football or basketball season.

All sports betting in Las Vegas will be finished sooner or later. The Casinos will accept this to keep everyone off their backs about the retarded Slots that don't pay off anything! The Casinos hate Sports Betting!

After the College ban takes place AND IT WILL, The Pros will want a betting ban on their sports also. The Pro leagues have got to have more power in Govt.

This will also help the Govt. in the WAR on off-shore sports betting. The govt. will use these laws to make People think taking bets on American sports bets should be illegal because the Colleges and the Pros say it should be......

They Casinos will act like they want it (in public) But will not do anything to keep it. The Casinos probably wish the Sports Books never happened!

    Forget Vegas.

The pros don't want a ban betting on their sport. Why did the NFL delay the 4:00 games to 4:15.

Totally ridiculus to think banning pro sports betting is next. Even John McCain who is behind the college betting ban says their is no reason to ban betting on pro sports.

You think maybe we should give John McCain a piece of all the players he is going to force to play off-shore? LOL

The pro leagues will go whining and crying to congress the day after college betting is eliminated next year.

They know that no one will watch NFL Cinn vs Cleveland, except people in Ohio, without a bet on the game. But Legal betting in Nevada is only a small part of the pie. There will still be the net and the illegal books.

They can look like they are really interested in the "integrity" of their games, without giving up much. Hell - the NFL was started by a bunch of bookies [They don't talk about that]. Plus Tagliabue is a lawyer who wants to control the world anyway.

The casinos really don't care, except as a vehicle to entice slot players and because the guy across the street has a book so they have to have one.

If the books were eliminated in all casinos - they would all be equal.

What would you rather have - a sports book that makes a 4-5% profit [hold] or 300 slots with people from Iowa sitting in front of them. To these casinos - space is money.

The lower end casinos might care - the Stardust, etc. But beleive me - the new joints on the South end, Bellagio, MGM, Mirage, don't. And the North end joints don't have the political power to stop it.

It will be the NFL, NBA, etc, all with teams in DC, vs the Stardust and Leroys. Now who is going to win that battle?
