Under 60,you need to stay at KeyLargo on Flamingo,Over 60 you need to be at Alexis Park.
Vegas has the worse food, the buffets often times get you food poisioning, you need to eat all your meals at Wild Oats,11 bean soup there is tremendous, they also feature wheatgrass.they are located at Flamingo and Pecos, also Saraha and Decater.
There is good Tennis at the Desert Inn,be sure to ask for Marty,Agassi former coach and tell him I sent you.
Also there is good golf at DI among others also Billy Walters course is nice.
As far as betting there is only about 4 diffrent #'s now,2nd hand smoke is brutal everywhere,I prefer the HardRock for the nice big leather chairs and funky #'s,small limits though.

Hey SEC. Stay on the strip. A week before Christmas may get you a good rate. The Bellagio is my recommendation. The food is fantastic. It is expensive but you will get it back on the bowl games!!! Good Luck.

        SEC,

I lived in Vegas for over 20 years take the advice of Marcus. Stay at the Bellagio it costs a bit more but it is first class all the way!

R/bird, I think you're cool ,honestly, but these health food off the wall suggestions to a guy looking to air it out on vacation? Alexis Park?- a non gaming mortuary for stuffed shirts.

SEC/ Highend, try Bellagio(above sugg.), Mirage, NYNY, or Paris. Midstream, try Stardust, Orleans, Rio or Regent. Budget, try Stratsphre, Plaza or Riv.
Greatest food and chefs in the world. Gourmet Italian: Stefanos/G/Nuggett. Buffet: Regent. Lunch: Spagos/Caesars.
Go to Wild Oats for charcoal pills in case of indigestion only.

Will be able to get a great rate at DI because it won't be there anymore.

Marcus is right, in the weeks before Christmas until New Years you can get the best rates of the year.

Azbobbette and I make an annual trip during this period and got a great rate at the Luxor.

Monday night football at the RIO is a nice event with plenty of give-a-ways and decent food.

Just be selective in choosing the buffets...there are good ones to be found. I also like the Forum Shops at Caesar's, high parlay rates at Barbary Coast and the free outdoor entertainment every night at Harrahs (if not too cold)

              good luck

I've been checking prices..and the before christmas bargans is the main reason for the travel dates. Amazing how much we can bet, but am a pretty hefty penny pincher in everyday. Wife saw a Bellagio ad, probably head there for the weekdays, and Treasure Island has some great rates for the weekends as well as Luxor. Any comments on TI except for the kiddies runnin around?

Its hard to get a feel on how far the hotels are spaced...can you walk easily from casino to casino if they dont have shuttles? Thanks for the replys..

I’ve walked the entire Strip before. It’s a pretty hefty hike. It’s deceptive. The buildings, and especially the signs, are so huge that you think you’re a minute or two from the next hotel, and fifteen minutes of walking later, it’s still just up ahead.

From one end of the Strip down by the Luxor and whatever else is in that area—-I haven’t been to Vegas in a while—-all the way to, say, the Sahara at the other end is about a two hour walk one way. That’s just my estimate from memory; the locals can correct me if that’s off by a lot. That’s a stretch of maybe thirty to forty medium to large casinos.

You’ll do a lot less walking if you’re centrally located. If you’re at the Flamingo, Caesar’s, Bally’s, etc., then within maybe a twenty minute walk diameter, you’ll be able to get to a dozen or more of the biggest name hotel-casinos on the Strip.

Angel Park putting course(18holes) is the home of some serious local skin game action. All natural terrain but just use the putter. Also two reg courses Palm and Mountain. Beautiful! Located across the road from Regent Hotel & Casino.---enough of this C of Commerce stuff.........

                          SEC-

I stayed at the TI three times the week before X-mas in the past. You will get a great rate there and you are close to most of the best hotels to hang out in, which are, in addition to TI, the Mirage, Ceasars, Bellagio, Venetian, and Paris. A little bit of a walk and you can get to MGM and Mandalay Bay. My favorite buffet is Paris, but these hotels all have good ones. Mandalay and Bellagio have the best restaurants if you want top of the line. I recommend Aureole at Mandalay or Picassos at Bellagio (though you need reservations several weeks in advance for Picassos). For sports books, I like the Bellagio and Mandalay (though not Mandalay for racing). The Mirage has the best sports book drink service. Just sit there and tip once in a while and you will have drinks every few minutes (no requests for betting slips or any of that crap). If you stay at the Venetian and want to go to the spa, make reservations before you leave.

                            SEC,

Mikren and Zippy are right about the walking and staying in a central area strip hotel...Also, if you are looking to go to the shows, try to get your tickets ahead of time or go around and pick them up once you get there.

My favorite places to stay are the Mirage, TI is nice with a good location...and the Stardust (relatively quite, no kids around and Tony Roma's and William B's is located there...I am not big on buffets) -- go into the 'Dust sportsbook on Sunday night when the opening lines get posted, you might get a few solid tips

                            Have a great time!

Only been to Vegas twice and stayed at the Imperial Palace both times. One of the older places but centrally located and had a great cheap buffet when I was there. The girls that walk around and peddle drinks had far and away the sexiest outfits in Vegas.
