It's a rare occasion when I do see line errors at my favourite book. I've seen about 1 in almost a year, but today there's already been 2. They have the team total for the Washington Capitals at 5 goals when the game total is only 5 1/2. Who knows, maybe Washington signed Gretzky and nobody told me, but I'm pretty sure that's a mistake. I emailed them about it, but it has yet to be changed. While checking to see if the line had been changed I stumbled upon another error. In their Hockey Props for the NY/SJ Game they have who will get more points - Nedved or Marleau. Apparently they aren't aware of the fact that Nedved is suspended for 3 games. I'll admit I couldn't let this oportunity pass by. I am probably the smallest player Olympic has, so by no means am I going to hurt them. I bet Marleau and emailed them about this line error also. I've yet to see a change and if by game time, the Washington Team Total is the same, I think I'm going to bet that too. (I will have given them over 3 hours to change it) I know it's wrong to knowingly bet a bad line, but if the book throws out bad line after bad line, someone obviously isn't doing their job. Nevertheless, if they wish to cancel my bet(s) I understand.

What is the money line with the puck line?
Some places will use 5 Over and 5 1/2 Under iterchangeably.
So if the place prefers not to push on a game they may offer a game at (say) 5 1/2 Under -130 while another place who prefers not to take the risk may offer it at 5 Over -130. It's not to say that one is right and one is wrong - just a different preference.
As for the matchup, if a player doesn't play then the matchup is refunded. That would go with any sport.

Hartley,
You may have misunderstood me, the Washington line was a Team Total, not a Game Total. i.e How many goals will Washington score tonight Over/Under 5. It has now been changed to 3, which when combined with NY's Team total of 2.5 is 5.5 or around the total for the game.

thegreek - first, I think you have to be sure that it is an obvious error. What is an obvious error to a linesmaker is not necessarily obvious to the average player.
Second, you need to clearly post your policy for dealing with such situations. Don't just say that wagers with "obviously" wrong lines will be cancelled or whatever. Spell out the difference that constitutes an error. Then spell out what the sportsbook will do to try and notify the player that his wager has been cancelled prior to the event.
Third, if it were my book I'd give one warning notice before booting the player. Because most players lose anyway.
Of course, when it comes down to actually booting the player it's a business decision on the part of the book. I used to play poker with a bunch of guys, and one of them would habitually short the pot when calling bets. But everyone tolerated it because his bad play easily overcame his cheating.

A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAS A BIG POST UP SHOP E-MAILED ME TODAY AFTER READING THE REALITY THREAD,I THOUGHT I HEARD IT ALL.
HE TOLD ME TWO YEARS AGO HE ADAPTED A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY WHEN DEALING WITH CHEATS PLAYING ON THE INTERNET WHEN THEY FOUND FOR WHATEVER REASON AN EVENT THAT WASN'T CLOSED AND PLACED A BET AFTER AN EVENT WAS DECIDED.
HE SIEZED THE FUNDS IN THE ACCOUNT AND DONATED THEM TO A LOCAL CHARITY IN THE NAME OF THE ACCOUNT HOLDER.
HE MAILED ALL CHEATING ACCOUNT HOLDERS THEIR RECEIPTS.
HE CLOSED 5 ACCOUNTS TWO YEARS AGO AND NEVER HAD TO CLOSE ANOTHER ACCOUNT AGAIN.
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR CHEATS.

I had to pipe in. I know we've been down this road before, but here goes.
Some books do not move on air. Their lines are sometimes different by 2 points on nba. Are these obvious errors? Of course not. What about a hockey team -.5 -150 when others post -.5 -120? How can you tell me these are bad lines? "Obvious" errors rarely exist. I've had bets cancelled in this range for "bad line" reasons. Should I have been booted? No--the opposite should have happened, as the book should have honored the line that moved to their dislike.
In a different example, I bet a bad line the other day without even realizing it. it was a hockey game that should have been +.5 -115; i bet +1.5 -115. I didn't notice it until after the game (and the line made no difference for win/lose). Should I have been booted, even though I typically go out of my way to call this book and inform of them of "bad lines"?
The "obvious" is rarely so....

Could you, please, specify what exactly you mean by "THE WORLD"?
Have you ever seen Tipsport's lines for example? I think it is not so obvious if Olympic posts more lines than Tipsport does.

Alec, Olympic has pretty much got all the soccer Tipsport has, and college basketball, a lot of props on every nba game, etc.
They don't have all the hockey, or all the basketball or tennis, true.
Tipsport doesn't have totals bets though at all, whereas Olympic has them on nearly everything.
No quarter or half lines or period for hockey at Tipsport either.
No handicap/moneyline choices either.
The other little thing being Tipsport's odds are in general far worse, and they will discriminate against you in a financial sense for being a foreigner.

As for Reality's "zero tolerance" suggestion that commends confiscating a customers balance ... no doubt your common mafia controlled street corner bookie would do just that ...
Yes, I know some of the offshore books are really just transplanted NY street corner bookies - with leg breakers close behind ...
Would class operations like WWTS, CRIS, Canbet, WSEX, etc, etc consider for a second stealing, becoming a criminal to handle a criminal, ...
Olympic is definitely a class operation. Suggesting it should stoop to stealing is insulting ...
Olympic: Since you probably know me you know I frequently bet 10-12 college football games at the same time. I do not know how many times I was putting in my plays in the afternoon and I was surprised that a game had already started (always because of time changes from my printed early week schedule). I have never past-posted a game yet - but I can see how it could happen innocently.
Deal with the situation the same way the top books do: cancel the bet and monitor the account - maybe send a polite warning e-mail asking for an explanation. If it happens again, without legitimate excuse, close the account - but certainly don't, as Reality suggests, steal the customers money.
