Probably a stupid question, but other than avoiding the moved lines because od the public opinion, what are the major advantages to overnight lines?

We already offer 1st quarter and first half lines in all nba games, and have had them since the nba started. We offer first half lines on the ncaa on selected games, we have tried to put up first half lines on the ncaa basketball on nights when it is really slow, and again we write no action to it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but put up 1st half NCAA lines on all games and I will be playing them...especially if they're not just a clone of other books.
If you're spotty with when lines do/don't go up, it discourages action. Also, I think it just takes a while for a new book to get the word out there.

I put all of the ncaa basketball first halfs up early in the year, thinking like you, they will play them just put them up. I had some people call on them just like you and i am sure they looked at them on the internet just like you, but i have to be perfectly honest with you, they were probably all just like you, wanting me to have the number 8 when it should be 6.5. I might as well go out and bet the games myself if i am going to throw a number out there just to create action. I have been known to have an opinion on what lines should be and i don't mind throwing my opinion in the line on some games, but i won't just throw a number up there that does'nt exist just to create action. After the bowl games are over i will put the first halves up in all college basketball games, and give it a try once again, but if the results are the same, it will just not be worth our time and effort to come in another hour earlier to write 2 or 3 bets on first half sides. 99% of our different wagering options are made in house, we don't wait for anyone else to put up their props, 1st quarters, 1st halfs, or anything else that we offer and then we steal them, we make our own, and all of that takes alotta time to do, and believe me i would spend 24-7 in this office if thats what it takes to get the job done, but to spend the time to put them up and then not write action on the 1st halves, unless you are 1.5 or 2 points off of what the line should be is not good for me, my employees, or the business. I hope this helps explain our side of this issue, and i will always try to accomodate all of your wishes and needs.
