  • PayPal doesn't work?

At least not for me, it seems.

Was trying to deposit to CRIS via credit card, and said you had to go through this Paypal process, but says it doesn't accept my credit card - again, very strange being from Australia's major bank and a card that has worked quite happily in multiple countries. Same sort of crappy credit card provider issue as Paddy Power it seems. Hmm, not good to try and deposit into places with 2 P's, it seems.

my experiences with paypal have been mixed. It is GREAT for transferring funds between netteller and your bank if you already have money out there. It is HORRIBLE for trying to deposit money directly by credit card. I have never been able to have a card accepted via paypal. In fact, after verifying my card, but then having it rejected for an unknown reason, they then blocked my from using my account (ANY transfers) because I had my card "rejected too many times." On that day when this occured I tried my card ONCE!!. Now they want a load of paperwork on my card faxed to them, which I refuse to do because they want copies of my bills in addition to photocopies of the card, my license, etc. For pete's sake--I have a verified bank account linked to them and have made multiple transfers with them via my bank account!

They have no phone number, and when you e-mail them, they don't read your e-mail and simply start telling you "how to set up your account and become a verified paypal member" as if I were not one.

    good luck,

    Chilly

      Chilly,

Thanks. Definitely sounds like a very dodgy credit card deal then. Not worth bothering with.

        Chilly,
I had the same experiences with PayPal.
Called them using their 888 phone number,
was informed that my situtation had been corrected.
        Re-tried... same results...?

Funny, you were right, got an email back with the non-sequituresque 'can't find anyone with your email address listed in there'

What the hell are the other details for if you can't look them up!

          DOH.

          Not very well done.

Well, for whatever reason, after my 6th e-mail, paypal has corrected the situation and removed the restriction on my account.

It took nearly 3 weeks to resolve the problem, and although I asked for a phone number, they never gave it to me. I talked with some other people recently who ALL had the same experience regarding the credit card. They are either paranoid about fraud or they need to revamp their system software.

            back in the saddle again....

Same thing that happened to Chilly and Waywardwin happened to me. I'm only on my 5th e-mail though, so I still can't use my card with Paypal, even though I can use it everywhere else.

                Sent 2 emails... no response!
But what really makes no sense to me, is that I had previously made a deposit using a credit card with no problem.

No response to my reply to their non-sequitur reply either.

                  Not really very good.

                    Hello Group,

Let me try to offer one thing to be aware of when using PayPal.
When you're using your credit card or bank card make sure you click the credit card link at PayPal when adding funds to transfer to Neteller and not the e-check function.
If you don't, PayPal puts a hold on TWICE the amount of money you're moving. I learned this the hard way last week!!!
It turns out that PayPal puts not only a hold on your checking account for the amount but then charges you on your credit card too. So they are locking up twice the amount of what you are sending.
Of course none of this is mentioned on the transfer pages although it 'might' be found in the fine print someplace??
I understand they do this as a precautionary measure because PayPal is essentially fronting us the money until the bank sends them the funds.

So make damn sure you click the CC link at PayPal and not the checking options!!!

                    Cheers,
                    LV711
