Heres the story. When Sportbet decided to go on the don best screen a few weeks ago I transferred money from another book because I like accounts at all screen outs.Nothing is more annoying to me than seeing a number you need and not being able to grab it.Well, after playing there for several weeks last Sunday I played Memphis(xfl) at a pick online at Sportbet for a dime. This is their online limit for all games,XFL,hockey, baskets, etc. At the time the don best screen had Memphis 1.5/2.Fifteen minutes later I called their office because the line was still at pick at Sportbet, and asked what was the line on Memphis. The clerk,as with every bet I made goes to the bm(who I assume to be Chester),and says xxxx wants the line on Memphis. The clerk comes back, reads me pick, and I say give me 2 dimes on Memphis. The clerk says I can give you 1 dime to which I say,"fine".Readback given,I hang up.Lo and behold ,the next day I see I'm credited with only 1 dime.I get "Steve" in customer service who tells me that thier "house limit" on xfl games is a dime and since you bet 2 dimes we voided the second bet.Steve told me that my play that I called in was handwritten and when they inputted the play, they saw that I already played online for their"house limit".As an aside,I've started to use this term in my own house with my kids."The house limit on dinner rolls is 3 or 2 hours of tv is the house limit".I felt screwed.Email Jeff who attempts to get my money back to no avail.Jeff, thank you for your efforts.Next call to Sportbet to close my account. If they can screw me out of 1 dime, they can out of 26000.Transfer it to Rio,I tell Chester in my one and only(hopefully) conversation with their bm.He tells me that he is pissed I went to the forums to air the problem.Well Chester, that didn't occur at all.The only person who knew of this was Jeff at Bettorsworld who interceded on my behalf.Chester also told me that I had been told of their limits.WRONG.First off, this was the first ever xfl game and the first I ever bet with Sportbet.Did your office have telepathy and say dont bet more than 1 dime on xfl games? Also,I've never bet a game to my knowledge more than once so you would have no reason to warn me.The bottom line is if I lost I would be debited -2200,but since your office got middled you decided to minimize your losses. If posts like this and others(see MW and trujillos dilemma)cause people to rethink where they send money than my goal is accomplished. There are 20 or so offshore outs on don best and of those with no money problems they are all 1000%.Crap like this would never happen at any other book on the screen.Mark my words, this is NOT an isolated incident and will happen again.Chester, for $1000,I hope that it causes your shop many more times that in bad press and lost business.

The way this system is set up (realitys example), it favors the book. The player CAN'T win a dispute. The player exceeds the limit. The wager wins, the book cries foul. The wager loses, the book takes the money.

Reality, What if the bet lost??? Would the book have given the guy back his money?

    GENTLEMAN,

AFTER SLEEPING ON THIS QUESTION,I NOW HAVE THE CORRECT ANSWER.

IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST OFFENSE I'M PAYING YOU AND GIVING YOU A WARNING.

IF I WARNED YOU AND YOU PLACED AN OVERLIMIT BET AFTER I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH YOU I'M GOING BACK IN YOUR ACCOUNT AND IF I PAID YOU ONE OVERLIMIT BET REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY LOSING OVERLIMIT BETS YOU MADE,I'M NOT PAYING YOU THE OVERLIMIT BET.

THIS IS YOUR LAST WARNING,NEXT TIME YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED.

MY JOB IS TO MONITOR THE MONEY BET,NOT MONITOR THE INTEGRITY OF CUSTOMERS ATTEMPTING TO CIRCUMVENT THE HOUSE RULES.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO BLAME THE BOOK.

    FINE TUNE YOUR SOFTWARE.

THAT IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE.

THE UNIFIED GAMING SOFTWARE THAT CHESTER IS FORCED TO WORK WITH IS AMONG THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN.

NOT EVEN THE ORIGINAL OLYMPIC SPORTS SOFTWARE WHERE SPIRO AND MYSELF HAD TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT AND HAND GRADE AND ENTER PARLAYS WAS THIS BAD.

I THINK THE FLINTSTONES USED THAT SYSTEM!

FOR ANYONE THINKING THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS ARE ABOUT BOOKMAKERS TRYING TO GET OVER AND ROB THE PLAYER,I ASK YOU THIS.

IN CHESTER'S CASE HE HAS TAKEN A VERY GOOD BOOK TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A MAJOR BOOK WITH A MASSIVE CUSTOMER BASE.

A BOOK WHICH HAS INVESTED UNTOLD MONEY IN ADVERTISING AND INFRASTRUCTURE TO GET WHERE IT IS TODAY.

DO YOU THINK THEY ARE GOING TO RISK THEIR REPUTATION AND THE GOODWILL THEY HAVE BUILT UP BY CHISELING NICKLES AND DIMES?

DON'T TELL ME NICKLES AND DIMES ADD UP.

THIS IS A BIG BOOK CUSTOMERWISE AND AMONG THE MOST FINANCIALLY SOUND OUTFITS IN THE BUSINESS.

THE LAST THING THEY WANT TO DO IS CREATE PROBLEMS FOR THEMSELVES, BUT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LET THEMSELVES BE VICTIMIZED BY PLAYERS WHO DON'T ABIDE BY THE RULES.

LASTLY DON'T TELL ME IF THEY ARE SO SUCCESSFUL FINANCIALLY WHY DON'T THEY GET BETTER SOFTWARE.

    WHY DON'T THEY?

    LOYALTY.

    THAT'S RIGHT, LOYALTY.

THEY ARE A SUCCESS STORY SIMILAR TO GLOBAL SPORTS CONNECTION,WHICH BECAME BETMAKER.COM WHICH WAS ACQUIRED BY THE PUBLICLY TRADED SPORTINGBET OUT OF THE U.K.

THEY STARTED ON A SHOESTRING AND THE GENTLEMAN FROM UNIFIED GAMING GAVE THEM A LEG UP.

    THE REST IS HISTORY...

THE PRINCIPALS INVOLVED HERE ARE SO FINANCIALLY SECURE THEY COULD BUY A SOFTWARE COMPANY.

ON NUMEROUS OCASSIONS I HAVE ADVISED THEM TO SCRAP THEIR SOFTWARE BUT THEIR LOYALTY TO THE GENTLEMAN THAT GAVE THEM THEIR START WON'T ALLOW IT...

WHILE I DO ADMIRE THAT LOYALTY MORE THAN I CAN EXPRESS IN WORDS, IT TRULY IS HAMSTRINGING CHESTER WHO HAS SOUGHT TO BRING THIS COMPANY TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN.

CHESTER EVEN HAS THEM ON THE DON BEST PREMIUM FEED.

ANTIQUATED SOFTWARE AND BEING ON THE DON BEST PREMIUM FEED, FORMULA FOR SUCCESS OR AN ULCER?

    I'LL TAKE ULCER FOR A DIME,THANK YOU.

SO IN SPITE OF THESE INCIDENTS WHY DO PEOPLE STILL PLAY THERE?

IT'S A ROCK SOLID BOOK WHERE YOU ONLY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR GAME NOT ABOUT YOUR BALANCE.

NO PAY AND SLOW PAY ARE NOT WORDS YOU WILL HEAR ASSOCIATED WITH THIS BOOK.

NOT PAYING OVER LIMIT WAGERS AFTER BEING WARNED IS NOT NO PAY OR SLOW PAY.

    IT'S FAIR PLAY...

      Ajax,
You have my sympathy. I had an issue with Sportbet a while back dealing with their limits on baseball. I placed a wager for the 1000 limit. Then returned and saw the same line and played it again. The game started 4 hours later and and won. I was credtited with only the first wager and told the limit was a dime. However, I was not contacted during the 4 hours before the game and only was made aware the following day when I checked my balance. In my case, with Jeff's help, I did eventually get paid after a week and a half of jumping through hoops.
My concern is that this is a recurring problem with Sportbet and although from what I have been told Chester is a great BM, there are obvious problems when this issue has been going on time and time again. To sum it all up, I agree with Ajax, there are plenty of other headache/hassle free places to play so choose one of them.

Ajax, I'd be just as pi$$ed if it happened to me. If the sportsbook can't integrate the online with the phone wagering to control their limits, then they could prevent you from making any more internet wagers by disabling your online account.

But accepting wagers and confirming them, then finding out AFTER the event that it is cancelled - unbelievable.

Here's another thing - sometimes you can get more than the limit, if the book needs the play, as advertised here in the forum. What happens then - are you at risk for the amount over the limit, even if it is accepted?

          Jay,
Here is my side of the story.First off I hope some of our satisfied player's who don't take shots see this and come to our support. Right above where you clicked on the Xfl team that you placed your wager on, there was a header. I know this because I typed it myself it stated XFL is here maximum wager per line 1,000 anything more will be voided. Myself I can't see it getting much simpler than that. I was not in the office when this happened. I did speak to you after the fact though in what I thought was a gentlemanly manner. Sir if you have a question about me or my integrity I can supply you with a list of references, can you do the same? Please do not make something out of this let's just end it here. If you have questions or comments about this you can feel free to call me here at the office. Meanwhile I will consider this matter closed unless you make something more of it. You chose to cancel your account I granted that request and have transferred your money, and now you want to blast me. Did you read the post's in the other forum's from Reality about this incident maybe you should Jay because they are about you...Thank you very much for your time and courtesy in this matter and I wish you luck in all of your future wagers.
          Chester

Sportshobby, yes it is scary that a book can cancel wagers after the contest is completed. In my case I was never aware of their "house limits" as evidenced by me asking for 2 additional dimes over the phone after wagering 1 dime online. JT Chicago...youre 100% right,we dont need these hassles, its tough enough to win without these types of headaches.

                My opinion
If the bet was accepted (confirmed) then it stands.

Many my outs only have 500 or a dime limit on the net. I always call in additonal amounts by phone with no problem. Of course they stall or delay but I do get it confirmed. As long as you get confirmation thatthe bet is accepted it is a bet.
I doubt any players will call the book if it lost and say I should on have lost 1000 because that is your limit.
Books give limits to differnt players and also to certain games. So you never know the limit.
                Just my 2 cents

jinx, you are absolutely right. A posted limit is nothing more than what a normal player can usually expect to get on a game - ometimes more, sometimes less. If I ask for more and get it, or if I call back and wager the limit again with confirmation, then I expect to be paid.

If the book needs that side you are betting,
they will let you unload your account on it . It depends on them. If they only five dime limits and you are real sharp they may reduce you to a nickel.
                    vice versa reduce or raise
as long as it is confirmed its a bet
                    win, lose or draw

On numerous occasions I have bet more than the normal house limit on the phone (sometimes they took the bet, sometimes not).

Would Sportbet have cancelled the bet it it had lost ... of course not.

I agree with Reality that at a bare minimum an explicit warning was necessary - this bet should have been paid, PERIOD.

This is a classic NO PAY - I fail to see how being financially solid does one much good if winning bets are arbitrarily cancelled. No doubt by stiffing winners Sportbet can stay financially solid ...

I agree, unless you are a beard or syndicate where you are warned that we only accept this amount on a game no matter what. He wass not warned

Sportsbooks have to remember that sportsbook is a business, the customer is always right even if they don't like it. This only applies to a certain degree. Example: if a customer intentionally tries to get over, than that should be dealt with.

At the urging of a respected third party,I decided to take Chester up on his offer and gave him a call.I fully expected a name calling shouting match which thankfully didnt occur. We agree to disagree is the best way to sum up our conversation regarding our dispute.I have no doubt that if Chester owed 100 dimes that it would be sent,no problem.I had hoped that this situation could have been resolved by Jeff in private, maybe Chester now does as well.At this time my account is transferred but maybe after a cooling of period I will post-up again.Their numbers are playable. You can never say never.Lastly, these forums provide a vital role in our business and dont think for a minute that forums like bettorsworld dont carry weight with books. They monitor them closely. If you feel youve been wronged, post it.

                            Ajax,

this guy wants a ribbon for paying you and you'd re-up with them?

"You chose to cancel your account I granted that request and have transferred your money"

Let's through a party -- The guy closed your account and paid you.

Another player was told AFTER the contest was over that his bet was no good and without this site never would have gotten paid.

Another guy was threatened with having his funds absconded if he didn't cop to who he was "moving for"

Another guy had a wager canceled because the money line was off 20 cents.

Lets reward the place by sending them our business.

                            Unreal.

I vote we give them a star on the bookmaking walk of fame.
