Buying pts. in hoops

All,
I was wondering what is the most pts. you can buy in hoops and does any number cost extra ( like the 3 in football). I play at to places and 1 allows me to buy up to 3 and the other only up to 1.5. The charge is consistent 10 cents for a half pt. Replies greatly appreciated. Good luck all.
