I used Bowmans for years. Here's why I don't anymore:

No basketball money lines although they used to offer them.

Half time (1st and 2nd) only on some national TV games.

    No internet wagering.

I don't consider myself a huge player but half of my bets with them needed approval of someone other than the bet taker.

Totals and some lines don't come up at all until 11 am. For noon college football games this is an inconvenience unless you want to plan your day around getting to a phone between 11 and 12.

They scrapped the 24 hour phone betting.

For hockey games they offer either a puck line or a money line (they used to offer both). Apparently they flip a coin as some games have one and others the other.

In summary, I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread, but they don't offer close to the same service and range of bets that they used to. They're going backwards as opposed to forwards. They do have a few good traits such as they fact that they always pay (albeit sometimes in a bungled fashion when you pay for Fedex next day service and they mail you a cheque that takes a few weeks and then act like they're doing you a favor by refunding the fedex charge), but they're definitely going down hill.

As a note, I now use Sports Interaction which is usually OK and Olympic Sports which is fabulous.

I actually stopped using Bowman's for the same reason. I used to find that any bet outside of the major 4 (football, baseball, basketball or hockey) caused more confusion and frustration than it was worth. On too many occasions I'd wait on the line for 20 minutes while bet takers went from one manager to another in hopes of finding someone who knew what I was talking about. It just isn't worth it, when all the other books are online and the bets are in front of you at the click of a mouse.

I also met Gary once and he offered me a pair of tickets to a Jays game in his skybox when he got back to England. I followed up on it a couple of times and then gave up. C'est la vie.

The one positive I will say for Bowman's, is that the updated lines on their web site are always current. It thus begs the question as to why they can't turn that into a bettable web site.
