Why do books get pissed off?

Ric,
If you would reread my post you would see that I wasn't suggesting that books feel their profit threatened. What I was suggesting, was that there is an underlying lack of respect that is inherent in the relationship between the 2 sides of the counter.

Whatever happened to the idea that bookmakers were brokers? Paying the winners with the losers money and taking a percentage for their troubles? Where did the attitude come from that everyone has to lose? Is it just plain greed?
