I just tried out the free Island Express. It serves about as much purpose as having yesterdays winners. My only question is why did they bother having a free service at all? It's like the New York Times printing out two newspapers each day....One with todays news, and a free paper with all the news from the previous day.

Jacmar, the free IslandXpress has been free for about a year now. The only change is that the updates are now slowed to 15 minute updates, instead of two-minutes (in the free version).
Itremains to be seen whether all the problems with updates on some sites will be corrected. TopOfTheWorld never could get theirs going. PremiereLeague (Superbook) seems to be on one day, off the next.
Even more importantly, the question is how many books will be added now that the fees are (presumably) reduced to the sportsbooks. If there are a large number of books added, then the $99/month might be worth it to some players.

I used the 2 minute delay to get the moves so I could play in books that didn't get the move as fast. But with a 15 minute update, there is no value at all for me. To pay 1200 a year for a two minute delay isn't worth it either. If I am going to pay, I would want a faster update.

If it all works properly, and if more books are signed up as a result of lower fees to them, then I think this is all a good thing. I'd like to see the same books offered on all three services, with the user deciding how much to pay for what update rate.
One problem now is that some nuts such as myself are faced with the possibility of paying for BOTH the premium and the IX platinum service. This is because there are several good books on IX that are not on the premium service.
It would seem that subscribing to the most expensive service (premium) would entitle the user to all available services, including the added sportsbooks on IX.

Jacmar,
by using the island xpress with the 2 minute delay, were you able yo use it in your favor to tuen a profit?
The reason I ask is, if you were, maybe paying the $1200 would be worth it......maybe increase your wager size (only if you can afford it!)

I was able to win with it Jeff, but only at places that didn't change the line as fast as I would get it. There were times I never got paid because of the places I was playing at. Now I have a couple of decent places, but if I have to pay for the 2 minute delay, I don't think I can make up that amount. So for now, I am going to use Offshore Connection. They don't charge, and their changes are just as fast as Island Express or faster. The drawback to using them is that they dont have too many decent sportsbooks, and you have to hit refresh every time you want the changes. But such is life I guess.

I see your point, but if it were that easy to check lines, then why are so many people paying Don Best 500 dollars a month? Couldn't they do the same and save the money? I want to be able to see what games and totals move, and if I happen to like that particular play, then I can play it in a place that hasn't changed it yet.

Most sites require you to log in to get their lines, then 15 minutes later if you want a refresh you have to log in again. A real pain in the butt!
A few sites like Carib, WSEX, etc will let you bring up their lines and either automatically or manually refresh to get an update, WITHOUT having to go through the login process again. Another workable solution is to have a web page (that can be bookmarked) with live odds, which does not require logging in.
But the most common situation is a real pain, having to go through several screens and log in every time you want to check lines.
