  • DonBest - Tell us about plans for IX Platinum

A question for DonBest: Now that the previously free IslandXpress is $99 per month, what improvements do you forsee? I would hope that, in addition to getting the lines at some books updating properly, we would see many more sportsbooks added to the service (as a result of lower fees to sportsbooks).

imo, they could make a ton of improvements to it and it still wouldn't be worth $9 per month, much less $99.

          BLH,
What are you thinking that it is not worth $9 a month, it is easily worth $99 to be on top of the moves and information. All you need to do is beat one of your offices to one move in a month and it can pay for itself. Obviously you have never subscribed to their service and don't have a clue

Look, Island Express is a fine service, if the price is right. To ask for $99 a month and give a delayed line, and then say that the improved feature is a pop up message which will also be delayed, really isn't worth anything if you are dealing with sportsbooks that are reliable and on top of things. For example, let's say I pay the 99 dollars for this delayed line and pop up message. I am watching the screen, and here is a message....it says that Shaq wont be playing tonight...great....I go to my book to play the game, and they say that the line moved five minutes ago. So tell me, what good is this pop up message going to do me, if every time it pops up 5 minutes after all the books know what it is going to say? Does anyone truly believe that is worth 99 dollars a month? If you do, then how about I sell you some winners on a delayed basis? I will give you 100% winners every day. If I ever give you a game that doesn't win, I will give you double what you paid for. Sounds good, right? Well, the catch is, I will give you the games a day late. To me, that is worth the same as getting information 5 minutes late, or a line change 2 minutes late. Can Don Best supply the sportsbook that will accept the play on the delayed line change it will give? If not, well, I don't think I am going to be paying money to have books tell me that line has changed a few minutes ago.

Any news on when Top of the World will start displaying lines on IE? Last I heard was they were having technical difficulties.

I have to agree with jacmar. anybody paying Don Best 99/month for DELAYED service either has a lot of bucks to waste or a screw loose. Even IF (and this IF is so huge, I doubt it would happen)the moves were NO DELAY, and ALL THE LISTED SPORTBOOKS LINES SHOWED UP WERE REALLY BETABLE,and you had true CLICK thru BETTING, I wouldnt pay 99/month for it. But that's just me...I am not a "follower" looking to bet steam, and when I find something I like I go shoping for the best price. Just old fashion I guess.

i've used it for as long as it has been free. it's well worth what i payed for it but not a penny more. anyone paying $99 for it doesn't have a clue.

Proabably the worst thing they ever did was make it free in the first place. If you put steam aside, and subscribe to the theory that it's essential to have a so called sharp line so you'll always have an idea of what the right line is, then the 99 bucks might not be such a bad deal. Just the late breaking injury info has to be worth something.

IMO, if Don Best is able to get all of the Island X sportsbooks to promptly update their lines, then the service, despite the 2-minute delay, is worth $99 per month. However, if multiple books are still derelict
updating their numbers, then the $99 is not justified.

Rick at Don Best, now that players will be paying for the fancy Island X, are you going to pressure books to promptly update their lines?

I previosuly subscribed to the premium service but when all of my local shops went off shore it no longer paid. The premium and platinum service have value a flea like you could never comprehend!

Look....the value of Island Express is all relative to what one's needs are. I too, paid the 99 dollars originally. At the time, I was playing with some books that were behind the moves and the two minute delay to those books was ok for me because I was still beating them to the move. But now, playing with the books advertised here, the two minute delay doesn't help me at all. So why would I consider paying the 99 dollars if there is no chance I will get the lines that I am looking for. With Offshore Connection, at least I have a chance, because their updates are about as fast or faster than island express. But also, there is no fee. It's not a question of being cheap. I would pay the 99 dollars gladly if I knew that the books would hold the line that I am trying to play. But we know that isn't going to happen. I believe it is silly to pay for a service that isn't going to do anything for me. True, there is no guarantee that Offshore Connection will be of any value, but at least the price is right. So as you can see, it's all relative to the needs of the individual bettor. If the 99 dollar fee is worth it to you, then I would suggest you continue to pay it. But speaking for myself, there really is no sense to paying for it.
