  • WHY EVEN ADVERTISE CRIS??

Of the 20-30 solicitations I get weekly, I noticed a small postcard from CRIS with a phone number and an email address to respond to. Now, I've never had an acct with CRIS and I figured I could use one with some early football numbers, so I call them. On hold, busy signal, busy signal. 3 phone calls including one at 2 am. Sent them 2 emails, the 2nd one about a week ago.......no response. Why even bother advertise?? The mailorder response rate on "unsolicited targeted" mailings or ads that all of us get every week is under 2% in the US. Yet these bozos can't even answer an email or pick up a phone. I'm sorry, but the only thing these guys seem to have going for them is that they built up their client base early BEFORE the explosion of offshore books.

Well, I have one more reason to add: I can't even check out their odds or the range of bets they offer before becomming a member. I don't buy their story about people "using" them just to see their odds. Offer a delayed line for the public, do something, but at least let me see what's on offer, as I'm not going to deposit my money blindly.

      Cons,

If you want to check out their website. Open an account online and then you can navigate the entire site even if you haven't deposited to the account.

I did so (but not to steal their numbers!) just to kick the tires and find out some info to decide whether to post up with them.

As an aside, as a Canadian I cannot Western Union $US without getting completely hosed on the exchange rate, so I wanted to find out if I made a deposit with my $US credit card if there was a signup bonus - NOPE.

Sign up for an account if you want to test drive the website, but you really have to wonder why you have to go to such lengths just to see what the offer.

Guys, I have had an account for a few months now and things were going OK until about a week ago.
Now my browser can only get to the home page occaisionally and when I do sometimes I get an access denied message and sometimes the login window keeps refreshing even after I've submitted my pass etc.
There is something going on here. It did seem like a decent setup... but now?

        I've been trying http://www.crissports.com/

Are others having trouble getting this page? Right now I'm getting "This page cannot be displayed" message.

Chestrockwells, this is a lesson that a lot of books need to learn. So many do not have an efficient system in place to respond to e-mail inquiries.

AllWrong, I wonder if this is a software version problem. Other places that were using the same software seem to be having some of the same problems - AllWorld, Superbook, etc. I'm having to log in over and over, and there are lots of format problems.

It's time players send a message to the books that don't seem to give a rats ass about their customers.

Sure, if you're a wiseguy and need every out you can possibly get, then you need to deal with it.

But if your a player who is going to play with a half dozen books or so, big or small, you have lots of choices.

It's time the players regain some control here.

Customer service is THE most important aspect of any business, and this business is no different.

Reward the books that respond to your concerns. Reward the books that treat you with respect when you call to inquire about something. Reward the books that only ask how much of a payout you want and where would you like it sent.

Disregard the books that beat their chest and tell you how friggin great they are, but then don't deliver!!!!

What just really amazes me is that REALITY comes in here shilling how great they are. Than Cris makes some kind of official statement agreeing with REALITY (imagine that). Now we have something as simple as this thread, but they're just TOO FUCKING GOOD to respond to something so trivial.

              REshillITY>>>Where the FUG r u now?
              Cris...GO FUKA USELV.

JEFF: MY, MY, IS THIS BASH CRIS WEEK. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCOUNT, CREDIT OR POST-UP WITH CRIS. I KNOW BETTORS WORLD IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE WATCHDOG FOR OFF-SHORE BOOKS AND YOU PEOPLE DO A TREMODUS JOB IN THIS AREA.

BUT WHAT IS A WATCHDOG'S RESPONSIBILITY? fOR ME THE BOTTOM LINE IS DO THEY PAY. DOES CRIS PAY? I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT THERE PAYMENT POLICIES.

ALL SPORT BOOKS LARGE AND SMALL, AT TIMES EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS IN THERE SOFTWARE, COMMUNICATIONS, AND ETC. MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE THE PEOPLE WHO TRY AND WAGER DURING CRUNCH TIME.

I WOULD LAY 6/5 THAT MOST OF THE REAL WISE GUY PLAYERS PLAY LONG BEFORE CRUNCH TIME.

                THANKS, STEVE TURNER

Actually, this thread morphed into software and other issues. But my initial post was about their lack of customer service etc. I've been doing the offshore thing for 4 yrs. now and I've never heard of CRIS stalling or not paying. But as the years go by more outfits will either become or reaffirm their position as being "safe" and "secure" and whatever other word one may want to use. And when that happens, CUSTOMER SERVICE and marketing is what will determine which of them becomes more successful etc. CRIS doesn't "appear" to be that interested in that particular aspect of their operation.

I have been playing with CRIS for about 6 months. All customer service issues have been answered promptly and resolved fairly. And yes, I have been paid as requested without a problem. I guess different people have different experiences...but mine have been only excellent.

CRIS is an outstanding book, ROCK solid! An absolute must if you are an originator playing early or if you play just before post time. Been with them for 5 years and never a payout problem. They take all players, originators, wiseguys, sharps, steam chasers, squares, etc. My most solid shops are:

                        CRIS
                        DELMAR
                        OLYMPIC
                        WWTS
                        GRANDE
                        SPORTS MARKET/ACES GOLD
                        CASCADE

Why take chances with your money? Stick with the solid shops and sleep at night.

                          My two cents:

From an insider's point of view (having worked at 3 sportsbooks, including CRIS) I have to admit that their Customer Service is poor. But you gotta ask yourself what does the player prefer... courteous service or fast payouts? In a perfect world you’d have both but being forced to choose, my money is on fast payouts any day.

As per CRIS, you may or not like the old man but you have to give him credit for running a solid shop that has withheld the tests of time. Believe me, that has its value. Sure, lots of people bitch about their customer service but never –to my knowledge- has anybody complained about getting paid. Just my opinion.
