  • boxing and draws

I do not understand why some books treat boxing like a soccer game: win, lose, or draw. In vegas if you bet on a boxing match and there is a draw you get your money back and if you bet the draw -you win. This is the way it should be. The reason I'm bringing this up is because apparently Olympic, one of my favorite books, has changed their policy and you now lose if it is a draw. Even though after the Holyfield Lewis draw Olympic gave everyone a refund, while the place I bet at Victor Chandler did not. It may not seem important, but all things being equal - why not only use books that give a refund on draws. I know one thing it would have saved me a lot of money on that one fight alone.

Just to be safe, plunk down a few bucks on the draw, just in case.

Yeah and this weekends fight has all the ingredients for a draw......an old ex champ, a younger who's hardly the best the division has to offer, and of course, Don King.

Although in this case, a draw wouldn't benefit King, as no one would want to see these guys fight for a 4th time, so perhaps it's a pretty safe bet there WON'T be a draw.

If a Book offers the draw option, then you should lose it you bet a man and it comes out a draw. That's only fair for the Book. If they don't offer the draw option, than a draw should be a push.

I see some people complaining about their loss on the fight because of the draw......The rule should really be made clearer I think.

Those that have been around know the ins and outs but the guy just stumbling onto the net and deciding to get his feet betting with a sportsbook has no clue, and that's a big advantage to the books.

Well the draw strikes again. It seem fitting for a fight that nobody deserved to win. My money on Ruiz was refunded at World Sports Exchange and Olympic on a parlay. Apparently the teller I spoke to at olympic was wrong and olympic does refund your money on a draw. It would make sence that a class act like olympic would do things the right way. Five Dimes also refunds money on a draw. Millennium and sportsinteraction did not refund on the draw. So in the future I will only be using the three books above for boxing. Ironically they also seem to be places I do most of my bets anyway.

                Guesser,
It is not fair to the books to not refund on a draw, it is pure greed. Draws in boxing do not happen very often unlike soccer. When there is not a draw the book gets to keep all the money on the draw. When there is a draw it pays. The bet however should have nothing to do with side bets. With the low odds most of the books use for draw, I can insure you they make money on draw bets.
