i just came back from vegas and i will never go back.listen to this,i walked up to the window in the flamingo hotel and told the teller i wanted to bet five dimes on miami -1 over new jersey(nba).this is when the fun started,i was told i would have to come in the back room and sit down while they looked a few things over(they wanted to know what i did for a living.where i got all the cash, who i was with)this was unreal.i was so mad i left without playing the game, mami won ofcourse.i went to talk to the manager of the sports book and he told me it was acommon thing for certain people to be checked before they bet that much money.WHAT?i have never heard of this before.i am really pissed off to say the least.has any of you guys heard of this before?

Vegas is not the place to play big money. I have a closed loop account with Coast Casinos and the MAX totals bet in the NBA is $100 and you cannot log off and back on to bet it again. Thats it, while Bert Osborn the sportsbook director boasts on radio they are not afraid to take large bets. What a joke!!!

I knew Vegas was bad, but man, that's REAL bad. That makes the the SMALLEST offshore joint look like a giant!

Vegas is truly a sad site, especially for those of us who were not old enough to bet there in it'd day.

I still remember Jai alai at MGM, and Santa Anita Sportsbook.

I think all of us should send a thank you letter to Steve Wynn, who turned the town from gamblers paradise to disneyland.

I live and bet sports in Vegas. It depends if you know the books and how long have you been playing with them. At Coast Resorts, they allow me to bet up to 4 dimes on a half (1st/2nd) on football, and at Station Casinos at 2 dimes a half. I don't bet alot on basketball (most is a dime) on either sides or totals... so I can't really say, but Coast Resorts and Stations, they do take significant amount on football. Only my two cents.

It's already reached rock bottom. Things are starting to improve slowly. As stated above, Coast properties have done and 360 and are staring to gamble. The Stations, a notorious gouge joint, are on a slight uptick. It might take them a while, but they'll begin to realize that you can't make money in neutral. The feint of heart directors that run these joints for job preservation only will eventually be exposed by the corporations. You see, those stuffed shirts will bitch win or lose. You might as well gamble.

Why on earth did you go to the Flamingo ? You should have gone to the Stardust or to Caesars. The minute they give you any grief, simply say, "Since you're not interested in my 5 dime action I'll take my business elsewhere, thanks". Presto !!! Your 5 dime action is taken.

This week Vegas will have many million dollars worth of action on the Super Bowl. Little Caesar's, many many years back, took a 1,000,000 wager from Stupak on the SB.

You're right JPet. Gene Mayday took the bet on the Bengals vs the 49ers. Stupak layed -105 and cashed. That was a real BM booking with his own real money. All this was going down while Art Manteris was touting himself as "Superbookie". He had the name and Mayday played the game. RIP G.M.

Isn't that the game where Stupak bet the other side somewhere else, making it essentially a publicity stunt?

It would be nice if Vegas made a comeback, but I don't see it. What's in it for them? The guys they wanted to attract in the 1st place, the squares, could pretty much care less. The guys that wouldn't mind seeing Vegas make a comeback are the wiseguys, and none of the books want them.

I don't understand why they would ask who you are with? What do they mean by that? Do they even have the right to ask who you're with? That sounds crazy!
