This Check Is Bad

hi guys,

just got a check from a sportsbook who i have dealt with for three years.i dont want to mention their name,they are good and many of you play with them.the check was for 4,856,i cashed it at my bank(i put my account #on it)i took the cash home and thought everything was okay untill the bank called and asked where the check came from,i said i would have to find out because i had cashed many that day.(i did not want to say sportsbook)they said they would have to deduct the money from my account,ther reason being they thought it was from a offshore casino.what do i do?is it illegal to get a check from a sportsbook?i need to act on this now,please offer your help.

Something doesn't sound right about this post.....no bank is going to deduct the funds because they "think" a check is from one place or another.

Have the book put a stop payment on the check.

I agree, something just isn't right. I have deposited plenty of checks drawn on domestic and foreign bank accounts - there is nothing illegal about that. The only legal issue is that you report the gains on your tax return.
