These nit-wits in our Nation's Capitol are at it again and with a vengence. From the article:

"Law enforcement agents could also direct U.S.-based Internet providers to take down links to gambling sites and tell online advertising companies such as DoubleClick to stop distributing ads for illegal online casinos. "

This bodes ill for all of us, even Americans who don't gamble.

This also gives us a glimpse of just how out of touch these guys are. How could you possibly police such a law???
Answer: You can't. But you can sure spend a lot of money trying.

And who in their right mind would think it's a good idea to take a law written in 1961 and use on the Internet?

They are completly drunk with power and demented.

This will never survive judicial scrutiny, as the saying goes.

I have a first amendment right to speak and the idea that I could be forced to take banner ads for sports books down is flawed. Somebody with deep pockets, and probably the whole industry, will certainly litigate that issue should it arise.

The WWW stands for "World Wide," not US - and internet gambling is not illegal in all of the world. There are still questions about its legality here in the US.

We all know the bottom line on this is MONEY . . . and now that Vegas has their exemption, resistance to what was known as the Kyl Bill, is being swept aside.

You may remember that the Communications Decency Act was struck down and I am willing to bet that many provisions of this garbage will be as well.

So, if gambling is so evil, why does Senator Kyl's home state offer over 50 ways to make a wager? Oh yeah - because Arizona has become addicted (like most jurisdictions) to the steady stream of gambling revenue. And of course because Senator Kyl is a lying politician, which has a certain redundantcy to it.

Can you think of any product the states promote? The only one I can think of is gambling. Not only do they promote gambling, but they give all the players "the worst of it" by far.

The trues odds on one game are about 60,000:1, but they only pay of at 500:1 and they tax those meager winnings ! When they are all done with you, the prize on a 60K-1 shot comes out to a $332 payout. And players here scream about 20 cent baseball lines. Can you imagine what type of players they attract with these odds? Newly minted, just fell off the turnip truck suckers. This amounts to a tax on stupidity.

You'd have a better chance at turning a profit if you saved all the money you wasted on the Arizona Rip-Off and played 10 team parlays for $2 each.

To see some of the criminal odds Arizona offers their citizens under the guise of "legal gambling," have a look at:

Sometimes this country makes me sick with the corruption; this is one of those times.

Like someone else mentioned in the past.......soldier of fortune magazine takes ads for hit man. I guess that's ok??

The thing here is, it goes way beyond this industry. There's all kinds of groups that get involved here when 1st amendment are in jeopardy.

            Actually

I don't think SOF takes those ads any more because they were sued and held liable (I think). My subscription ran out in 1979 and I haven't renewed

Any SOF readers out there confirm/rebutt this?
