  • Government gets extension to file response in Cohen case

    From www.supremecourtus.gov, Docket # 01-1234:
Apr 11 2002 Order extending time to file response to petition until May 15, 2002.

This is all I know so far. The Solicitor General's office did not give us a courtesy call to let us know they were requesting an extension.

It is unusual for them to take an extension on this type of brief, and it is even more unusual for them request it so close to the deadline.

Damn, beat me to it, and it just showed up on the website. I knew they had 24 hours to post the response.

Keep dragging it out. Keep screwing every other bookmaker in a lost cause. The more in the light this is the more it hurts the business. Something that could have been forgotton already is fresh on the mind of Federal Attorney Generals, Judges and Polititions.

This will only hurt the business for the selfish quest of one man, who until a few years ago only knew about what it was to be a bookie when he read the newspaper.

Interesting point of view. On the one hand the less said about it the better. But then on the other hand, no progress can be made that way.

The public has a right to know how the case is presented and to hear both sides of the arguments so they can form an opinion of whether or not it should be legal. If it is all kept quiet, then no one would lobby their representatives either way.

I don't think presenting information is putting it in front of the government's face. I think they are well aware of what is going on.
