  • Yahoops a BAD book?

    Office of Judge Judy

I am hearing bad things about Yahoops concerning payouts, clippings, poor and rude customer service.

I did not see them on THE LIST.
Anybody have any experience with them?

Yahoops is classic example of a brand new book that breaks into the industry with a catchy name and a few marketing dollars but no GAMING experience.

It doesn't surprise me to hear of problems.

It would be hard to justify playing at a shop like that until they prove themselves.

It's only a matter of time before YAHOO files a lawsuit against these guys. Get your money out before YAHOO does with a lawsuit!!!! This is blatant trademark infringement.

          YAHOOPS PREPARES FOR FIGHT

          By Sting
          TheRx.com
          April 29, 2002

Net Games Inc., the Belize-based gaming enterprise that owns Yahoops.com, is preparing for the battle of its life against Yahoo! Inc, one of the world's largest corporations. But Ido Raviv has already taken some necessary steps in demonstrating his willingness to stand ground and fight this to the bitter end if necessary. Three weeks ago, Raviv received a letter from Finnegan, Henderson L.L.P., acting as trademark litigation counsel for Yahoo! Inc., objecting to the use of the Yahoops.com name. The law firm also included an attached copy of the UDRP Complaint filed with WIPO by complainant (Yahoo! Inc.) objecting to the registration of the domain name, Yahoops.com. "Yahoops received about 300 pages worth of legal documentation containing prior lawsuits brought on by Yahoo," disclosed Raviv. "Many of these domain names featured extensions such as .biz." Yahoo.com has come out on top in many of these prior cases. Some of the losers include Yawho.com, VisaYahoo.com and Yahomo.com. However, Yahooka.com reportedly was victorious. According to Raviv, that site's owner contacted him and divulged that his organization simply placed a disclaimer on the home page indicating no relationship between the two companies. Yahooka.com bills itself as "the guide to marijuana over the Internet". In an attempt to contact legal representatives for Yahoo! Inc., we were told the company does not comment on pending legal matters. However, we did receive a response from Nicki Dugan, Corporate Communications representative for Yahoo! Inc. "Yahoo! has not filed a lawsuit against Yahoops.com, but rather has initiated an arbitration proceeding which is specifically set up for resolving domain name disputes, stated Dugan." Dugan insisted that they intend to move forward with the arbitration efforts in order to resolve the matter. Raviv is not waiting around to play whipping boy to Yahoo! Inc. either. This past week, Net Games Inc. filed a response in accordance with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy. The firm, acting on behalf of Net Games, is none other than Washington, D.C.-based Arnold Porter. Arnold & Porter has a significant practice in all areas of trademark and domain name law, including domestic and foreign trademark prosecution, trademark clearance and other counseling issues, licensing and corporate acquisitions, enforcement of trademark and domain name rights, and litigation. More than 100 clients rely upon Arnold & Porter to handle their trademark prosecution matters before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (the "PTO") and abroad. These matters range from basic applications to complex issues, such as registration of single color marks and appeals, to the PTO's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board following an examining attorney's refusal to register a mark. Arnold Porter ranks as the 54th largest law firm in the US and has the fifth largest office in Washington, D.C. In the response, NetGames states they have been using the domain name yahoops.com for many months with no objection from complainant. NetGames initially acquired the domain name from Eyescream Interactive, Inc. Even before this acquisition was recorded in the registrar's records, NetGames began using the domain name approximately eight months ago in connection with the operation of an active Web site based in Belize City, Belize. Net Games also states in the response that they are unaware of any confusion by Internet users between the parties and their services. Raviv continues to insist the name Yahoops is derived from the word 'hoops,' which relates to his business of wagering on basketball events. He also points to a Curacao-based operation called Yabet and wonders how far Yahoo! Inc can go with their attempt to monopolize on a portion of Webster's Dictionary. "What's next?" he asked. "Is Yahoo going to go after every company that has the word 'Ya' in its name? If that is the case, will they go after Yabets out of Curacao?" While Raviv insists he has no intention of giving up the domain name without a fight, he did suggest Yahoo! Inc. can have the domain name for a price.

True or not, it eventually will be and that will only drain the pockets of yahoops. I don't want the sportsbook I play at to be spending funds on expensive court battles, I want them paying me.

Yahoops seems to be in the middle of a lot of problems. Is no doubt going to have to fight the domain name, a sportsbook tried to start with a name using AOL as part of their domain and that was promptly yanked. They are also mentioned in the SecureBuxx problem that is brewing and if they are truly owned by a criminal wanted by the Israelis, then this seems like a dangerous (to state the obvious) place to stat up. Instead of buying bridges........(from another thread)......why doesn't everyone send ME the money you were going to post up with these guys and I promise I will flush it down the toilet for you.......

Well now that everyone knows where ido is...........the Israeli government certainly must too seeing as they have one of the best intellegence agencies (thanks to Uncle Sam) in the world.

How is Costa Rica allowing all these wanted criminals to run around freely? This cannot reflect well on the US government's annual vote on how much foreign aid they are to receive.

first of all, ido ain't in costa rica, he's in a shithole that makes costa rica look like the french riviera: belize

second, the israeli s.s. or mossad has its hands full now with arab bombers, they can't be plucking thru the rainforests of belize looking for a punk embezzler

third, what would the mossad have to do with an embezzler anyway? they are spies, not cops

fourth, anyone who sends a penny to a place like belize has got rocks in his head

                        los osos son muy peligrosos
