  • Tennis vs. Golf

Does everyone really think that betting on tennis and golf (women's tennis) is really not worth it anymore because of players like Serena and Venus Williams and Tiger Woods?

It may be worth it if the books would start excluding them from the choices. I think more and more books will start doing that. Basically you'd be betting on who would come in 2nd.

WSEX offered betting on a golf match, interactive betting, without Tiger to get more people interested. its a good to take some of these guys out of the running to spread the action around. if you took serena and venus out of women's tennis, there would be a lot more questions.

Most of the books that take action on Formula 1 racing do something similar--since Michael Schumacher wins *all* the time (he's won 7 of 9 races this year IIRC) they do "to win" odds with and without him, as well as futures with and without him. His Ferrari team is also a big part of his dominance (his second banana Reubens Barrichello won one of the two races that he didn't) that they'll do the same thing with and without the Ferrari drivers.

As far as tennis goes, I don't know how long Venus and Serena will remain on top. I know they've talked in the past about quitting tennis to do other things (Venus wants to design clothes, I believe) which leads me to believe that their focus isn't exactly "Tiger-like".
