BWorld Talks with an Industry Pioneer:

    Bill Scott of BetWWTS (World-Wide-Tele-Sports)
BetWWTS has everything you want and need in a Sportsbook. They've been around for over 10 years and have one of the best reputations in the business. They've been praised for our Privacy and Security Policies, State-of-the-Art Technology, Guaranteed Fast Payouts and commitment to Customer Care.

Located and Licensed in Antigua, BetWWTS employs all English speaking Telephone Operators who are renowned for their efficiency and dedication to the servicing of our clients. Bettorsworld has enjoyed a very open and positive relationship with BetWWTS over the years and is very proud and appreciative that Mr. Bill Scott took the time to answer our questions. If you have any questions about this interview or would like more information on BetWWTS, please contact us at [email protected] or call BetWWTS at 1-800-601-6721.

BWorld: BetWWTS had been around since the early days of offshore wagering. As a pioneer in the industry, what do you see happening as the industry evolves? What preparations has BetWWTS made for this football season versus previous football seasons?

Bill Scott: The offshore gaming industry has evolved as all other industries before it. In its’ infancy, a few strong companies were established and founded the industry. Everyone sees an opportunity and tries to seize it. Most realize that it’s not as easy as it seemed, while others raise the bar for the entire industry. After a period of time, the bad ones weed themselves out while the strong like BetWWTS.com thrive. It’s not just the scenario for the actual gaming companies, but also a trend we are seeing with the software providers. At the end of the day, you will have only a handful of the best. I believe that we are headed in the right direction and BetWWTS.com will be at the forefront. For this football season we have focused on our Internet upgrades to ensure that bandwidth is sufficient. In September we will also unveil our new and improved BetWWTS.com site with low minimum stake amounts and no minimum deposit requirements. We feel everyone should have the opportunity to play with a company that is rock solid. We have also focused much of our “slow” season on customer service training because that is the cornerstone of the business. Payment solutions have also been a point of focus this year and we are investigating all avenues to ensure that our customers will have every payment option available to them online, in a safe and secure environment.

BWorld: BetWWTS.com has been in business for quite some time, and has an unsurpassed reputation. How did you achieve this presence and what are you doing to maintain it?

Bill Scott: Since we’ve been in business for over 10 years, we’ve had time to learn quite a few things about the industry. Our main objective at BetWWTS.comhas always been to pay in a timely fashion and that will never change. Early in the game we also recognized the importance customer service plays in this business. To be successful and retain customers, you must have friendly and professional staff. We don’t just want to meet a customer’s expectations – we want to exceed them in everything that we do and it all starts with customer service. There is also a need to provide customers with incentives to give you their business. BetWWTS.com has always been realistic with the types of promotions and bonuses that we offer. You can offer bonuses and incentives to attract customers, but you can’t “give away the farm” because if you do, you won’t be around in the long run. As it stands now, we are offering 10% sign up bonuses worth up to $1,000 on all new accounts opened, our unique cash back loyalty program that puts back 10% of any losses back in your pocket, friends referral bonuses, Friday night parlay specials and much, much more. It’s always tempting when you hear that a company signed up hundreds of people over a short period of time with a XX% deposit bonus or juice free deal, but when those companies close down, we are thankful we didn’t follow them. Currently, we are focusing on the two most important factors of the business as we see them, customer service and payment solutions.

BWorld: Marketing in the Internet environment is becoming more and more important. Are you focusing your marketing more in the online area or in print? Which do you see as more vital for securing your customer base?

Bill Scott: We have focused our marketing efforts on the Internet, since that is where most of the action is coming from. We’ve introduced a number of new promotions on BetWWTS.com to help secure customers including new sign-up and referral bonuses, a loyalty rewards program and weekly contests among other things. However, we will continue to offer a phone presence, because it’s important that clients know that they can call and hear a friendly and helpful voice over the phone if they ever have a problem. That’s how we started and offering a solid phone option only adds to our credibility.

BWorld: BetWWTS has been featured on HBO, Fox, and numerous other television networks and print media. How has this shaped your company and have you received negative attention as a result? Do you feel that this International exposure has helped you develop a very well-rounded clientele?

Bill Scott: What the media exposure does is bring awareness that the industry exists and assists with our branding strategy. Our clients loved seeing their sports book on HBO! When they showed shots of the BetWWTS.com office, people realized that this company is for real, run very professionally and is not a fly-by-night operation in the Caribbean. The international media attention has definitely helped us expand our client base globally into other regions around the world.

BWorld: Your establishment is one that is known for taking ALL types of action, large and small. How do you find that delicate balance between the “wiseguys” and the “public”?

Bill Scott: We run our office like any successful business and if we have a need for larger action we’ll take it. We also operate our office a little different than others because we are willing to take a large position across the board rather than trying the impossible of balancing each and every game. We handicap all our wiseguys and show them the respect they deserve by moving off their money. We will also move off of public money however it just takes a lot more in order for us to move a half point.

BWorld: What do you think of the recent crackdowns by the credit card companies on Internet Gaming charges? Do you consider this fair considering that most card companies still accept charges for other questionable Internet services? How has this affected the casino side of the business versus the sports side?

Bill Scott: It’s interesting that credit card companies haven’t separated the “gaming” code for sports and casinos. The recent crackdowns make doing business more challenging, but we are always searching for viable solutions for our players.

BWorld: With PayPal starting to phase out gambling payments, what is BetWWTS.com going to focus on to ensure the future of the post-up business? Do you feel Neteller is a solid funding source?

Bill Scott: We are in the process of evaluating all of our payment solutions to find a few that are “preferred” and we will notify our clients of the outcome of our research. Neteller has been around for quite a while and provides a reliable funding source for our customers.

BWorld: BetWWTS.com is one of the line originators. In other words, you consult with Las Vegas and a few other offshores to develop the opening line. You spoke about this in a special about last year’s Super Bowl. Can you summarize this process for the readers?

Bill Scott: We get a starting line from two handicappers, we massage it a little and put it out to three wise guys who immediately bet or pass on each game. From those bets we move our line accordingly and when we feel it is solid we put it out for all to bet –this becomes our opening line.

BWorld: Since you set your own lines, and don’t clone from other books or a lines feed, what do you think of books that simply clone the lines and follow the moves of other books (such as yourself!)? Do you think this leads to a bleak outlook and unrecoverable losses?

Bill Scott: Cloning lines from other books should not lead to unrecoverable losses for the books that practice this method. As long as they are consistent, they should make money. Cloning a line and moving on air will keep most wise guys away (which is not always a bad thing). I remember seven years ago that’s how we booked things at BetWWTS.com , and believe me it was much easier than developing our own line.

BWorld: For a new player just signing up with you, what do you recommend to help them become familiar with the site and wagering on the Internet in general? What should they look for when playing football (point spreads vs. money lines, parlays and teasers, etc.).

Bill Scott: To become familiar with BetWWTS.com , it is really just an exercise in use. We’ve tried to make the navigation of the site and betting process as simple as possible, so even the novice computer user can place a wager. Our programmers usually ask me to try to make a bet, if I can do it they feel they’ve made it as simple as possible. Or they can always call our client services team toll free on 800-BET-WWTS. Our client services team would be happy to talk any new customer through the web site and assist wherever they can. Whether it is explaining promotions and offers or recommending a payment method, they are there to help. The second part of your question depends on whether the client is betting in order to make a living or betting because his hometown team is playing. A quick answer would be to keep a good eye on the money lines in football and basketball. Most sports books move their point spread line, but forget to update their money line. As for any other tips try to have fun and don’t get overly involved.

BWorld: Do you feel that the sportsbooks in the industry (those with solid reputations) should work together as a coalition to protect the best interests of themselves and the player?

Bill Scott: A coalition has been discussed for years, but until everyone is running a solid “business” this is going to be difficult to accomplish. BetWWTS.com does a lot to protect our company and our players. We hold player funds in an escrow to assure the player that we do not use their funds to run our company. That’s a common mistake that companies make – just because the client sends you funds, doesn’t mean that you have earned the money!
