    I have been trying to log-on to Royal's website since 11:50 am...Nothing. So, I will NOT BE placing any bets with them today either since Royal is my only out and I refuse to give them any business since they obviously don't care about their customers. And, by next week I will ask Royal to transfer my funds, at their expense, to a new sportsbook. I am open to suggestions. I am a recreational player and I am looking for another book (maybe two) to bet with so I can enjoy my sports betting past-time.

    Royal....F-U. You have not only taken the joy out of the first two-Saturday's of college football (down 8-hours last Saturday and the same problems yesterday). You have now f*cked-up the opening day of NFL betting for me. This will be the first time in well over a decade that I did not have a wager on opening day. Again, Royal, F-U.

    To anyone considering becoming a customer with Royal, I would suggest to stay away for now since they obviously are not prepared to handle the customer base they currently have.

    Last Saturday, (opening day of full college football) Royal's website was down for around eight-hours (11:30 am till just after 7:00 pm EST). Apparently Royal posted the following somewhere on the web (I cut and pasted this here).

    We discovered an unexpected bug in our web software on Thursday. This was found in the integration of our Million Dollar Royal Challenge, the free contest with over $60,000 in prizes each week. All members of the Tech staff are busy as hell working to remedy this problem. In response to the problem we have turned on the alternate sites, www.BetRoyal1.com and www.BetRoyal2.com , for greater access. We appologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our clients or those wishing to take advantage of our big football contest. >>


    How could they discover this bug on Thursday when they knew about it last Saturday? They're obviously spin-doctoring with their B-S repsonse about finding a problem on Thursday.

    They are my only out and I've pretty much had it with them. Remember, last-year, when they pulled all of their web-site lines during October to develop and set-up this new software. This took several months for them to complete (maybe during January of 2002 I believe). This was during the busiest time of sports betting (MLB playoffs and world series, NFL, CFB, NHL, NBA and CBB to name a few). This large programming undertaking would have been much better planned for late June through August. Then, you're mostly dealing with MLB and some pre-season NFL. This just shows me that they are nothing more than a bunch of lunk-head bookmakers who do not understand that customers keep their business viable (and all other busiiness for that matter too). Piss-off the customers and soon you won't have a business.

    Right now, I am very pissed with them. After trying for about 15-minites (last nite) to log-on to their system I called them around 7:00 pm and told them off. (Note: Had to wait on phone for about 3-5 minutes before I was able to tell them to f*ck-off, so I was really even more pissed by then). Also, told them I would not place any bets with them on any days that I have problems logging onto their site. I hope others will follow my lead. Maybe losing some business will force them to get it together. So, I now have time to type this since I refuse to bet any more games tonight (and only bet Floriduh today. because of this problem). I now call them Royal PITA cause they have been a pain in the a$$ for the last year.

    Also, if you are not a current customer, I'd wait until someone gives the high sign. They clearly can't handle the volume of customers they presently have and to add more customers would just exacerbate this already bad situation.

    Note to Royal. Don't send me any more smoked hams for the holidays. Spend this time and money on getting this f*cking software problem fixed so I can enjoy my recreational sports betting past-time while relaxfully (yeah right) wathcing my money go bye bye.

      aknorman: I will make no excuses for Royal's website problems. They do have problems. I understand they are considering junking 3 million dollars worth of software and getting something different.

      They changed GM's a few weeks ago and I think he will solve the web site problem, even if he has to change software.

      Now, I have acknowledged there problem. This address yours. Do you not have a telephone? Even if you are making small wagers, Royal will accept over phone if web site is down.

        Steve....I never said I couldn't use the phone. I said I refused to do business with them because I've had enough of their website being down. Especially, during crunch time betting. Also, I was forced to use the phone (by them) from October 2001 till January 2002. I promised myself then that I would never go through that again. That's why I didn't call in ... then have all the lines read to me for every game and then place my bets. Nor will I without first logging onto their website. I like to look at all the lines before I decide which game(s) to bet.

        Thanks for your repsonse. BTW, do you know the name of the new GM since I plan to chat with him/her by phone by tomorrow.

          Call tonight and ask for Victor. I don't want to post new GM's name on web site. Victor is a great guy and can give you some help.

          Also, a helpful hint, don't wait till crunch time to place wagers. Why wouldn't you wager on friday night and get 5% juice? Good luck. SAT

            aknorman, I undstand your frustration. I tried to get into the contest they are running about 10 times and got the same damned error every time. Customer service responded to one email out of about 5. I had to ask Jeff to contact them to get an answer.

            Today is Tuesday and I am still getting the same error, but no response from them.

            I think I made some wagers Friday to take advantage of the 5% juice and I am pretty sure I bet at least one game there Sunday.

            All in all, I like Royal because all my prior dealings with them revealed them to be about the nicest people I ever dealt with.

            I am not making excuses for them, but books often have some trouble in the opening week. I've been with them for about two years and this is the first trouble I've had - so I am sticking with them. They are quality people and I am sure they will get whatever troubles they are having straightened out.

            Let us know what the GM says if you speak to him.
