  • Urgent, Leach bill, how we can help stop it!!!

Protect your ability and right to gamble online. This week the US House of Representatives is voting on a bill, H.R. 556, the Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act, that is the first step in taking away those rights. Please help block this effort, there are enough of us to make a difference.

Please call and/or write your representative in the House of Representatives. Tell them you vote and you are opposed to H.R. 556. If possible, please have several of your friends do the same.

It’s best to call and write.

To call your representative, dial (202) 224-3121 and give them your zip code. When you reach your representative’s office, tell them the substance of the message below.

To write to your representative, simply go to this address:

    http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Put in your zip code and follow the links. It is important to include your name and address. You can then cut and paste the following message into the provided area.

    ===============================================

I VOTE AND I AM OPPOSED TO H.R. 556, THE INTERNET GAMBLING FUNDING PROHIBITION ACT.

I don’t think the government should stick its nose into what forms of legitimate entertainment adults enjoy in the privacy of their own home.

It is a waste of taxpayer money and limited government resources with absolutely no benefit to the citizens of the United States. This is not how I want my government spending my hard earned tax dollars. Every dollar that would need to be spent enforcing this proposed law could be better spent elsewhere.

It is hypocritical of the federal government to try and prohibit selected forms of gambling while almost every state in the country condones and encourages its citizens to play other forms of gambling when the state gets a piece of the action.

I am offended that the sponsors of this bill have attempted to mix this activity in with terrorism and money laundering in order to help muster support through demagoguery.

    Thank you for listening.

PLEASE VOTE NO ON H.R. 556 on Tuesday.

Why are you paying attention to the posting boards if you think we're all liars and thieves? So in other words, while you may have had a bad experience the hundreds of thousands of others who haven't should be allowed to excerise their freedom to spend their money how they wish?

                TTNM,

                I care.

And FWIW, you have your facts all wrong.

And that's all I have to say to you.

Isn't Jay Cohen in jail? I know Charles Manson gets internet access to run his site but this is rediculous.

He's not in jail yet, not that it is any of our business when he reports to jail, where, etc. The point is, he BELIEVES in what he did, believes he is innocent and believes the rest of us should have the right to pursue our enjoyment of sports betting.

He's standing up for something a lot of people just want to sit back and whine about. No, I'm not a Cohen groupie, I do disagree with the way he has gone about some things; however, he is AT LEAST speaking out and trying to make a difference.

And yes, they do have Internet access in jail and hopefully he will continue to try to motivate the rest of us to stand up for what we all obviously like to do, or we wouldn't be visiting these sites!

And Charles Manson? That's a bit of a stretch. I don't think the two even remotely compare.

                        TTNM,

Your facts are the ones that are wrong.

I don't owe you an explanation. Who the hell are you anyway?

                        Your statements highlight your ignorance.

                        Blowfish,

                        Thanks for the support.

I report to prison on Tuesday.

JC, good luck to you - keep the faith! I have submitted a response to my local Congressman. Your suggestion has hopefully made a difference.

If all of us think that there is no value in making inputs to our representatives, then our government no longer works.

I hate to start an argument here, especially when I'm not the one being bashed (yet).....BUT how has he done more to HURT the industry?

Let's forget that he fought to legitimize the industry and to have the law interpreted fairly rather than in the biased fashion that has become the norm.

He comes from a REGULAR background (as far as I know...don't think he was an abused child that grew up in a crackhouse or anything) had a respectiable job on WALL STREET (yes, that could actually be a liability these days......just kidding) and took an innovative idea and followed a dream.

I can see how that hurts an industry that is thought to be full of unregulated mobsters running around breaking legs and shooting people to collect. Throw in the credit card hackers and irresponsible 21 year old kids who think they can become offshore bookies and I think we need all the legitimate help we can get.

IF nothing else, he gets credit for taking on Uncle Sam. Maybe if we ALL stopped hiding behind our computer screens we could make a difference too.

If you have a problem with Cohen, then that's fine, but you can't fault him for what he believes in. Aren't we all on the same side? Has everyone seen Bambi? Remember Thumper? If you don't have something nice to say.......

I don't think someone can "harm" the industry by speaking out.

The only way to get this industry to where we all want it, (legalized 100%) is to speak out and keep it in the forefront.

What's the alternative? Keeping it quiet and pretending it doesn't exist? Then hoping the govt doesn't catch on for a few more years?

All that approach would have done is delayed the entire process.

Online gaming is a fact of life now, that will never go away. It's so similar to prohibition. Ok, everyone stop drinking now, wink wink.

Can't stop the train now and there's no way on earth this bill becomes law.
