Visit Bookmaker.com Today! BOOKMAKER.COM LAUNCHES REDUCED JUICE BETTING

    -105 Sides -107 Totals

San Jose, Costa Rica, March 10, 2003—Bookmaker.com has just announced the launch of -105 sides, -107 totals reduced juice betting.

“The great thing about betting online is the ease of which you can shop for good deals,” said Mike Foreman, Bookmaker.com spokesperson. “Some other sportsbooks offer reduced juice one day a week, but we couldn’t find a single other bookmaker offering VIG as low as -105 on sides and -107 on totals.”

According to Foreman, this was done with the customer in mind.
“We surveyed our customers and they told us this was they wanted. Reduced juice was overwhelmingly the number one response. Customer service was second, and we’re already ahead of the pack in that category.” Foreman added that the cost of offering reduced juice is being offset by offering smaller bonuses and only allowing reduced juice bets on the Internet, which help keep telecommunication and employee costs down.

“Our customers are smart,” added Foreman. “They know that
in the long-term they will get more value out of reduced juice then they will for a big deposit bonus with an endless number of restrictions. They certainly realize that they’re getting a bonus everyday by being allowed to cut their juice in half.”
Along with the reduced juice, bookmaker has made several upgrades to its Web site to make navigating and placing bets easier and also introduced e-Check deposits last month which has quickly become a preferred payment method.

In conjunction with the launch of reduced juice betting, Bookmaker (www.Bookmaker.com) is offering a 10% cash bonus for all new accounts up until Friday the 21st of March.

Mike, does Betmaker allow winners, or chase them off (see my other recent post)?

      Sportshobby,

We would love to have you and any other winners out there as our customers.
First and foremost, our policy is to pay any bets we accept. We do not believe in any type of rules that give us the right to take away winnings from professional (sharp) bettors. We take your bet, we pay you… that’s the bottom line.

That being said, if you bet all your games in the morning and every game had moved 2 points by tip-off and you win every single game, we would never close your account.

We do however feel differently of you are moving money for any one of several professional outfits. If every time you make play the screen turns black 15-30 seconds later—regardless of whether you win or lose—your limits will be reduced and you will most likely be required to bet on the phone.

Same goes for customers that only come in to bet us when we’re a couple cents off. If that is the only you’re going to bet with us, your limits will be lowered and Internet restricted.

Other than those two scenarios, we have no problems taking bets from winners.
If you feel like you don’t fall into either of the scenarios I mentioned above, let me be the first to welcome you to come bet with us.

Bookmaker.com is now offering -105 sides & -107 totals on all hoops & Arena football action. We’ll also be offering a dime line as well. If it’s more the bonuses you’re interested in, let me know & we can get you set up at betmaker.

      Kind regards,

      Mike Foreman

There seems to be a slight contradiction here.

A winner becomes a winner by playing the best number. ie a line that's a few cents off from others.

Why would sportshobby play a game -125 with you if he could play the game -120 somewhere else?

If he plays his games in th emorning, he's only going to play games in which yoiu have a better line (for him) than his other books.

Mike, I really appreciate your response and honesty. And it is reassuring to hear your policy on paying the wagers you book, when some sportsbooks seek to undermine the integrity of the industry by using that excuse in their rules.

As any serious player looking seriously to win, I do shop a few sportsbooks before I make a play. So you're not ever going to get a play from me that is available at a better line down the street. Where would that place my limits and options at your sportsbook?

Do you have NBA overnight lines? what time do you release NBA lines?

What is your limits on -105 juice on NBA sides?

            Thanks

              Sportshobby,

It’s really tough to answer your question without first evaluating your play. We don’t just sit there and follow the screen all day & we book based on our own action, so you’re sure to find some numbers with us that will work for you. The point I was trying to get across though is that if you are ONLY betting with us at an off number, and never playing with us when you might find the same line at a few of your outs, then you’ll surely be asked to make all your plays over the phone. But as I said, it’s too tough to tell without seeing your plays.

              Maximum Value,

We’re not currently offering NBA overnights, but we plan to for MLB with a $500 limit. Our NBA lines are up by noon EST everyday, but if you check earlier on any giving day, you might find them up.

The limit on bookmaker’s reduced juice betting is $500 per side. The same goes for totals as well.

I hope you all have a good March Madness!

              Regards,

              Mike

Mike, thanks for your response. I have had several questions and answers with you over the past few years, and they have always been professional and curteous.

If you care to humor me further, I'd like to know why I would be limited to phone plays if I only took "off numbers". Typically online limits are already lower than phone limits, so exposure shouldn't be the issue. I'm not a bookmaker, so I admit not really understanding what all is involved.

My paranoid side reminds me of a well-respected, British sportsbook. If ever I try and make a bet on one of their lines that is off even by half a point, they will refuse the wager and adjust their line accordingly. This is done whether online or by phone. Surely that's not the reason to make me phone in my plays . . .

                  Sportshobby,

I'll humor you by being more honest than I probably should here. If the line has moved based on our action and is just simply different from elsewhere, it's not a big deal.

Nevertheless, if we moved the game, the half, the quarter but someone accidentally overlooked moving the money line, we want to be made aware of it. We do make mistakes, and there plenty of bettors out there trying to take advantage of them. We'd just prefer to have those bettors placing their wagers over the phone.

We can't catch every bet on the net right off the bat.... by having you call in your plays, it's immediately brought to our attention and we might've just saved ourselves from getting banged quickly 2 or 3 times at that number.

We don't want you to call so we can change up a line during your call. We want you to call so we're made aware of any bad lines we might have out there.

There will NEVER be an instance where you'll be given a line and not given a bet at that line. I can guarantee you that.

                  Hope this answers your question.

                  Mike

It's nice to see a book coming back in the forums to speak out. for awhile everyone was afraid to talk because the were afraid to be bashed.

kudos to betmaker/bookmaker for taking the time to deal with the forums

                        Mike,
Thanks for the honest reply. I have no problem phoning in wagers under those circumstances. I look forward to giving Betmaker.com a try this spring for round ball.

Mike, thanks for the straight up honest answer. I'll always go with the guy who's straight up (even if it's the answer I don't want) than I guy who isn't.

They're worth taking a look at. They've got some great software. Mike also seems very proactive in listening to what his customers want.

The only question is, a lot of people say that reduced juice hurts a book in the long run. A few books do this successfully, but they probably make concessions elsewhere to make up for it. Hopefully Bookmaker can maintain the balance necessary to make this profitable for them.
