Anybody know anything about a book out of London known as BetFair.com ? Some of the lines they put up are unique if you can understand them.

What can someone tell me about the person-to-person betting exchanges? Is it the wave of the future, or has it been around a long time? It's a new concept to me, but it seems like it would be better for the wagerer, and simpler/cheaper to make money (outcome irrelevant) for the exchange.
Anyone have thoughts?

It's big in the UK but hasn't caught on here. Not enough interest. WWTS has one.
There was a place that tried to start up that I believe advertised here last year around this time but they never took off. I wanted to try it but there was never enough other players using the service to make it worthwhile

BetFair.com is getting alot of press in England. Apparently some of the big established regular sportsbooks are very nervous because this type of wagering is taking off so well. I think it will eventually take off in the US market once people learn what it's all about. A lot of college kids would be able to use it (not that that's legal).
At any rate, from what I've read, you should get a lot of interesting options at BetFair and they're doing quite well.

I've always been interested in this if done properly. I'd like to be able to put up my own prices and essentially become the bookmaker (like they say on their site) to smaller players.
But I checked out the wwts deal yesterday and it didn't look like that was possible. It also looked like there was no activity on the site in general. I mean, there were no baseball offers that I could see.
Maybe I'm missing something?
