  • How are we supposed to play if this boneheaded law passes?

I know there has been some discussion before about opening offshore bank accounts, but how the hell does the average $50 bettor do that and afford that? There has been other talk about "virtual coinange" or something like that.

Is there any book spearheading the development of a system for the average small guy to play offshore?

This is such a friggin headache. There is nothing congress can do to stop their citizens from gambling online, all they accomplished is to make this a far riskier and expensive operation.

I would have GLADLY paid a tax instead just to play in a safe regulated environment.

it is apparent that everyone would rather pay a tax on gambling than have it banned altogether. maybe not everyone, but the vast majority. most states are now considering adding some form of gambling to help balance their budgets.

stopping gambling is like stopping alcohol consumption or prostitution. it will never work.

      The answer is credit.

That's the kicker. The govt is going to force it underground like it always used to be.

At least taxing it would allow everyone to be happy, the players, the books and the govt.

        Brink

Are you in the know on what the offshore industry is planning to do in reaction to the pending legislation?

Surely there must be a "master plan" on getting a working system. There are billions of dollars at stake on someone figuring something out.

I don't think credit is the answer. The vast majority of players are too small for the books to offer any credit.

No, not really "in the know" but an educated guess would say that most of the books will simply continue to operate regardless of any laws that pass, and wil continue to operate in jurisdictions that allow them to.

The risk, if any, will be put on the players.

The risk is so small though. How in the world will they enforce a law like that??

As an example, how many people smoke pot?

How many people have ever been arrested for smoking it?
