NEW YORK (Reuters) - Casino operator MGM Mirage on Tuesday said that it would acquire a 25 percent stake in Metro Casinos Inc. for an undisclosed amount as it expands into the United Kingdom.
MGM said it is making the purchase in anticipation of reforms to gambling legislation currently being considered by the British government.
Metro, a unit of U.K. casino company R J Bown Holding Ltd., is developing a new casino in Bristol. MGM Mirage would need the approval of the UK's gaming regulator, the Gaming Board.
