not to ruin your cornflakes, but I have tested every power rating scheme known to man, and they all come out at 50% or less every time over the long hall. this goes for football and basketball (nba). massey, sagarin, checked them all. power ratings may be useful in college basketball (54%), but thats about it.

            luck to all

              Hehehe.... but....

              1. I do not play all of these picks... not even close. On my site I pick two for free post to the site, and members have access to the ratings picks and the rest of my selections, which may contradict the ratings picks.

(BTW I passed for the member picks today and posted Seattle and Denver to the free picks area.)

              2. I do not know of a single handicapper, that is worth a damn, that does not occasionally use some sort of power ratings.... Even if only to get a good statistical starting point or to evaluate a line.

              3. You have tested every one? How do you know? - I ask because a good rating system can and does peg winners, especially when played on the ML.

The issue here is that even though good power ratings can pick the winner over 60% of the time, they will often peg winners with too much chalk. This can lead to a high percentage of wins, with little or no profit.

For everyone's info... I post these picks to let readers and my friends see what my ratings are picking for the day. It is your job as an informed gambler to be well informend. This means that if you know how an injury will affect a game, and the picks don't look right, then fade them all or that one.

              Good Luck!

                Point 2 is correct. a little moody,though.

Point 3. I tested 11, all widely recognized and respected. The only 11 that are run by actual mathamatics people.

over 60% of the time? incorrect. the best cappers are at 58% or less over the long haul. and ML bets? my friend, baptism by fire is no fun

how do I know these things? because Ive been running stat plays for 5 years on the inet. that may not mean much to you, but experience is all that matters. ever.

i wish you the best. dont want you to lose, but ignorance is the quickest path to keeping the antiguan economy thriving.

                    -chamilun-

Thanks for getting into it with me on this one, I love a good conflict in opinion.

My point here is that we are all out to beat the books, one way or another.

I am up for the month and up for the year. I always use power ratings in my systems and my picks. And for me it works, year after year.

If you don't like to use them or find them to be of no help, that is fine. I hope what you are doing works for you. I would love to hear about any systems that you use, especially if it has been working for so long.

(By the way, I developed my ratings using my own math and my own system, one that is different for every sport I bet on, and one I have not seen used by my friends in the industry)

And yes you are right, I do own a website.

I also work directly with several sportsbooks on a daily basis.

I am of the opinion that even though I offer paid help, and work directly with some books, that that fact alone doesn't make my picks or my methods bad.

I will continue to post this thread with the power picks, and we can watch together to see how they do.

If you like hockey, check the hockey forum. I have been posting my strait power picks in there as well. I personally have seen more profit in hockey for the last 3 years than any other sport that I bet on.

Any way.... Good luck to you....

Well.... Not much help yesterday with the rankings.

Though my rankings give the following selections, I am fading the Seattle Pick. I think Favre and Pacs are going to kill Seattle... and I Live in Seattle! Who's with me?

                              So.... Power Grid Selections:

                              Denver @ Indianapolis

                              Seattle @ Green Bay
                              Seattle +7.5 -110
