Ottawa Senators -1/2 -110 over the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight.
The Maple Leafs' lineup is ravaged by injuries for this game. Their starting all-star goalie Ed Belfour is out, leading scorer Mats Sundin is serving a 1 game suspension for throwing his stick into the stands so he's out for this game, 2nd leading scorer Owen Nolan is out with an eye injury, One of their top defenseman Tomas Kaberle is out along with d-man Wade Belak. Robert Reichel and Alexander Mogilney are also gone but they havn't played for a while anyways. Ottawa is currently on a 10 game unbeaten streak and their playing some solid hockey right now...their the hottest team in the NHL right now, their powerplay is ranked 3rd in the league and their penalty killing is ranked 2nd. Toronto seems to always find ways to win games when their top players are missing but i think their just too undermanned for this game. Sundin is the key to their powerplay and their 1st line so having him out is really going to hurt them, he's been playing some terrific hockey the last few months. Trevor Kidd is a decent backup goalie but he's no Ed Belfour and i just can't see him and the undermanned Leafs stopping a hungry Ottawa team tonight. The Senators are chasing the Leafs for 1st place in their division and currently trail them by 7 points with 3 games in hand, so they'll be ready for this game. Toronto is one of the most penalized teams in the league and they have a tendency to take stupid penalties...thats going to cost them tonight against Ottawa's 3rd ranked powerplay. Just don't see a patchwork lineup of Leafs beating the well-rounded Senators, i think the Senators definitely warrant a play in this situation.
