  • Tuesday MLB preview and pick

    8.05pm ET
    Anaheim (42 - 39) at Chicago White Sox (42 - 36)
John Lackey (R) vs. Freddy Garcia (R)

We'll go with the Chicago White Sox to get back on track tonight when they open a three game set against the slumping Anaheim Angels.

The White Sox are 8-4 (+4.1 Units) at home against the Angels over the last three seasons and have a clear edge in starting pitching tonight.

Freddy Garcia owns the Angels with a 10-2 lifetime record and 2.48 ERA. The ace hurler was acquired by the White Sox last week and in his first home start will be very focused on halting Chicago's recent skid. Overall this season he is 5-7 but it must be noted that in his 15 starts with the Mariners they averaged a league-worst 2.19 runs. His 3.35 ERA and 1.19 WHIP compare very well with his opposing starter tonight.

The White Sox return home having been swept by the cross-town Cubs in a three game series in which they scored a total of just five runs. Chicago are 21-12 this season following a loss and we expect a much better offensive performance from them tonight. In their last 12 games at US Cellular Field they are averaging 7.6 runs per game.

The Angels have dropped six of their last seven overall and face a tough task to get back on track tonight considering the pitching mismatch. They send John Lackey to the mound and on the road this season he has a 7.25 ERA and 1.61 WHIP so it's no surprise that Anaheim are just 2-6 in his road starts. In two career starts against the White Sox he is 0-2 with a 11.42 ERA and 2.54 WHIP.

The White Sox are 36-22 (+12 units) against right-handed starters while the Angels are just 27-27 (-5 units).

Recommended play: Chicago White Sox -145

    Good luck
    Mike Thomas
