  • Illinois -9.0 vs Wichita State

Illinois 5-0 travel to south padre island to play the shockers 5-0 on neutral court Illinois is a 9.0 chalk

Illinois returns 2 starters from last years squad James Augustine 6-11 center and Dee Brown the one man fast break at Point Guard. Illinois is much stronger inside this year, and of course weaker around the permiter.

Illinois has struggeled against the zone as usual and while the shockers love to play an up tempo game I do expect them to go into a zone vs Illinois to protect it's big men inside and force Illinois to shoot the rock from 3 point land.

Illinois is shooting 38% from three point land only 1 percent below last years average.

Coach weber has played wichita state 10 times in the last 5 years and is 9-1 vs them.

    WSU analysis

WSU style of play- Up temp. Passing offense that spreads points and assist around well. Solid defensively. Typically holds opponents to under 40% in FG % which leads to consistently outrebounding opponents.

Strengths They go 7 deep with players capable of putting 20 points on the board any night. Very quick and deep at the guard spots. 6 deep with players in the 35% range from the arc.

Weakness: Front court depth, defending quick and atheltic players 6-8 or above has been a real problem.

I see Illinois Bigs having a huge game today and my numbers say Illinois by 12.0

    Good Luck all

Illinois goes on the road and wins a shocker (no pun intended)

A very very sloppy game for Illinois

      Offensive Efficiency : 82.38
      Defense Efficiency: 80.89

Efficiency numbers show that this was Illinois worst from an offensive standpoint, and the defense kept them in this game. Illinois defense held the shockers to 38% from the floor and forced 15 turn overs.

Dee Brown from Illinois was 3 for 14 from outside and gave away 5 turn overs, Dee must learn to let the game come to him for his play at point to be productive.

Illinois looked flat footed all night on offense, the old deer in the head light look

Illinois went to the charity stripe only 4 times while WSU shot 21 times

Illinois was real real lucky to get out with a W and it will serve as a wake up call for tommorrow as they will look to play a whole game vs Rutgers.

it's good to be back all and expect more input from me as the NCAA Mens bball comes front court.
