Strictly off the top of my head:

USC should be in the Championship Game unless they get thrashed by UCLA next week. Even a close loss would not drop them lower than #2 in the BCS. The cards are stacked in favor of USC. UCLA has lost only once. Penn State's loss came at the hands of a 4 loss Michigan team. The game is being played in Pasadena. LSU will not pass Penn State in the BCS standings no matter what they do next week. The Rose Bowl, and the Pac 10 would declare war against the BCS if USC was left out. The BCS can ill afford to lose the Pac 10-Big 10 conferences.

Texas is another story. While there is no conceivable way they should lose to Colorado, a loss to a team that you beat by 25 points, and who backed into the Championship game would be disasterous for the Horns. There would be too much preasure for a Pac 10-Big 10 Championship game in the Rose Bowl, especially with JoePa involved.

Notre Dame probably wants no part of another Pac 10 team this season, after it's rather dismal effort against Stanford. The Irish are probably hoping that the Fiesta Bowl opts for Ohio State, instead of Oregon. This is the last year for the big payday for the Irish. Starting next season, Notre Dame will only get 4 million to play in a BCS game, which is the same share that all the other participants get.

Don't sell West Virginia short. They will probably go into the Sugar Bowl with only 1 loss. Watch the line closely. If either LSU or Georgia is a big favorite, you may want to consider the Mountaineer's chances at a cover.
