12th ranked Illinois travels to the Tar Pit to take on the unranked North Carolina Tar Heels in a (not so rematch) of last years title game.
EARLY LINE INDICATES A PICK EM
Alot of things have changed since last year,
NC lost the top 8 scorers from last years squad and Illinois
also lost 3 good players to the NBA...
NC REVIEW
UNC plays 9 deep including starting 3 freshmen,
Offensive execution vs the Illinois defense will break
down and it will be play ground ball time for Dee
Brown of Illinois.
NC is trying to develop some chemistry with an
inexperienced rotation which did i say includes 3 freshmen.
NC has been playing strictly man to man defense, this
years team has a much better defense than last years squad.
6-9 Harnbrough is a Human Fouling machine and I
look for him to be slapping Augustine hard down low with
some real shots...
Fouls, NC has a problem with fouls, they are a hacking bunch
of players, while Illinois FT % is not that good also.
ILLINOIS REVIEW
OFFENSE: Illinois will run a motion offense which the freshmen
of NC will have a very hard time to adjust to.
DEFENSE Illinois defense will cause 15-20 turnovers vs
NC and send brown off the to races for some easy lay ups.
The Guard play of Illinois (speed) will be a critical point to the game
also Illinois has one BIG BODY inside something that NC lacks also
INTANGIBLE
If the refs let the game be played without home court
type calls (augustine played only 8 mins last year vs May)
then it will be a real good game.
My numbers say Illinois by 3
