  • Illinois vs Xavier NCAA Ball

Illinois plays Xavier at the United Center in Chicago
    Saturday at 1:00pm cst

When I looked at Illinois schedule early on in the season
2 games jumped out at me as trouble, Xavier and Oregon...

    Illinois opens a 5.5 chalk

This is only the second meeting between these schools
the last time was in 1961.

    A LOOK AT XAVIER

X returns it's top 7 players from a 17-12 team of last year.
In my opinion they could be considered the third best team
    in the A-10 this year.

X is stacked inside, with plenty of 6-8 and 6-9 players.
Which means they have alot of fouls to to use up on
Mr Augustine Illinois big man inside. No other team in
the A-10 is as deep up front as Xavier.

X will push tempo and plays very well inside and out.

    ILLINOIS

At the United Center the Illini have a 14 game win streak.

Illinois is trying to find it's game, every game is different
when the perfect game comes for them they will be very hard
    to beat.....in the mean time......

At guard I think Illinois has the advantage, Dee Brown should
have at least a one step advantage all night off the ball and
    with the ball.

Illinois Free throw % is low, and with X laying on the fouls
    they must make free throws.

Down Low on Offense, Augustine will get beat up and hacked, I hope he
does not get hurt, I look for the inside game to be a war on both sides

On Defense, clearly Illinois D is better, they are in your face, and fast
    turnovers favor Illinois Here...

    MY PICK

The Line opens at 5.5 Illinois my numbers said 4.0 Illinois without
factoring in Home Court advantage...... (Which as quite as the United
    Center is I can't)

So the difference I see is a basket two points from my numbers to
the line, I will take the bucket....

    My Pick Illinois by 5.5

    Good Luck to all

I'd say your number was right on. Good job. I bought 3pts on a parlay so I'm still alive anyway.

Illinois comes out and plays the worst first half of
ball i have seen in 2 years, trailing 19-4 after 10 minutes.

As predicted X fouled the Hell out of augustine
and he made them pay for it on the line

Illinois was lucky to win this game straight up

My numbers said 4 they won by 3, but didnt cover
the 5.5 which i thought was a great possibility and
      they should of....

Oregon and Georgetown are circled on my calendar
as possible losses, with GTOWN being the strongest

Next up Arkansas Little rock at Assembly hall..

      Good Luck to all

My numbers come in dead balls center at Illinois -20

I dont like this game, Illinois with a day off no practice,

ALR Little rock plays a solid zone defense, they played Mich State
head on for a half and only lost by 5

Illinois is looking towards GTOWN and I think they will play down
to the level of play tonight

So I am staying off the board on this game

My numbers do say Illinois by 20

          Good Luck

Illinois wins 75-49 to cover the 20 spread, by 6

Illinois played flat footed the entire first half and
free throws are at best 50%.

I know that coach weber is resting his squad 4 games in 8 days
including a trip to Oregon on Saturday, he did not hold practice today
do to NCAA regs and the school load on the kids, he will use tommorrow
to drill them for 3 hours on the motion offense

The bright spot tonight was Freshmen Jamar Smith....this kid can
flat out shoot the rock and he hit 6 treys out of 7 finishing with 23
off the bench.....And he is only a freshmen.....

Illinois is focused on Georgetown and you can bet that Oregon is
focused on Illinois after having their 35 game non conf home streak
            snapped

I will post my thoughts on the Illinois Gtown match up
early numbers show Illinois by 5.0 not factoring in Home court
            advantage

            Good Luck to all
