Illinois opens a 8 point chalk at home vs the road warriors
Hoyas..
A look at the teams and matchup
ILLINOIS
Illinois at home :
25 game win streak at home (3'rd longest in all the nation)
42 straight wins vs Non Conference O at home
70-2 at home last 5 years an eye popping .972 win percentage....
[B]
TO THE GAME ............A LOOK AT GEORGETOWN
The Hoyas were impressive winning at Oregon by 14 pts
snapping a 35 game win streak of the Ducks over non-C teams
dating back to 1999. The Hoyas held Oregon to 57 points....
That is 34 points below Oregons average
GTOWN plays a Princeton style game, they love
to play zone and slow things down and try to keep it
low scoring.
GT has 2 HUGE BIGS down low, 7'2" and 6'9" will cause probs
for Illinois and Augustine in the a zone......
GT is solid at point guard and will be all over Dee Brown of
Illinois, although Mr Brown is always a step quicker.
ILLINOIS
Illinois Defense is very good this year and staple of Bruce
Weber style of game....
Illinois is holding the opponents to 58 points a game and
41 % from the floor...This squad has not given up more
than 65 points in any game all year..
Illinois may just have the answer for GTowns Zone D and his name
is JAMER SMITH (write that name down...he is only a freshmen)
This kid can flat out shoot the rock and will bust any zone
put up...... GTOWN is well aware of this kid and will focus on
him allowing Mr Brown to float free and make the tough
passes inside...
Down Low....Augustine must draw Roy Green into fould trouble
if he does GT is toast, but I doubt that he has the finese (how the hell you spell finese) to do it.... He will be limited unless the other bigs step up...
FINAL THOUGHTS
I see this being a DOG FIGHT for Illinois......
Yes the will win straight up.......Not by 8
Oregon is looming Saturday, the team is tired, guard
Chester Fraizer is hurt, MCBride is nursing an injury...
Gut Win for Illinois.....
My numbers say Illinois by 5 and the UNDER
As a side bar to this game something to look at....
If Illinois blows out GT at home, Oregon will have a field day Sat..
Good Luck to all Carpet
