DUKE #1 vs. TEXAS #2

Well the first big matchup of the early college hoops season. Duke should of lost to VaTECH and failed to cover vs. PENN and Longhorns have just been blowing everyone out of the water so I'm sure the books will take all of that into conmsideration but I would be shcoked if this opened in Longhorns favor considering it is on neutral court. Either way, I think I'm taking the dog here but with all my knowledge of watching College hoops religiously, i think edge has to go to Longhorns....Lets get this thread going......

Early money quickly going on Texas... +1.5

I think Texas over powers Duke with both their front and back courts. They have the depth and size to match Duke and with Gibson and Tucker leading the way, Texas shoudl win big. Power rating are deceiving a little but still have Duke at an estimated -4 line value.Now lets look at recent quaility games. Dukes biggest win was over Memphis...not Indiania (Indiania still is horrible and will not do anything this year). Duke plays very well at the Garden and that is where they beat Memphis by 3 points. Texas has blown out every non-quality opp. while Duke has struggled against teams they should have clearly destroyed. Only thing Duke has really going for them is the fact they shoudl have more fans at this game and the fact Duke is Duke and their program will always be in the game, much because oif the great coach K. But remember this...Texas has never been ranked #1 and if they win no doubt will they open up as the top team in the nation next week.

Texas +2 (buy half-point)

But.... Duke has dominated every NON east coast Team, especially #2 teams. The only #2 team to ever beat duke was NC.

Agree with Nirvana's assessment here. Duke has been there, done that. While I am certainly not a Blue Devil fan in any respect, from a betting standpoint I feel its either Duke or nothing here. I am not playing this one and will be more than content to see the 'horns pull the upset.

2.5, if tx hits 3, I am putting a dime on them.

3 is alot of points and Texas clearly has the dominant defense. I am changing my mind. If they contain Reddick to under 18 points and stay out of foul trouble, Texas will pull the upset.
