  • Illinois vs Oregon Mens NCAA Ball

Illinois hits the road cross country to play the Oregon
Ducks in Portland.... The Illini fresh off a win at home
vs Georgetown, look to play their 8th game in 17 days....

Illinois opens a 2.5 chalk the line has moved to 2.0
    with the O/U at 137..

The site of play considered neutral, Oregon is 7-0 all
    time in Portland....

This game has it all.....Fatigue...revenge....respect .....
    and National TV.....

    A LOOK AT OREGON

4-2 record....last two games were losses, a loss to
Vandy on the road and a 14 point loss last saturday
to Georgetown at Home.... Winning games against
RICE,PACIFIC,BOWIE STATE and lets not forget
    SAVANNAH STATE.

Oregon is well rested since saturday and they believe that
they have fixed the problems inside with rebounding...

2 really good players, Aaron Banks and Malik Harriston
will drive the offense for this team....

Oregon was out rebounded last game by Georgetown
37-20 (In comparison Illinois out rebounded GT by
25-18 (I believe this to be true dont quote me on that)

When you analyze the numbers for Oregon in all
categorys the numbers are very skewed because of the
82-23 early season victory over savannah State

    ILLINOIS

16-3 on the road under Coach Bruce Weber.....

Illinois inside game against Oregon will not be stopped
Mr Augustine will have a field day down low, Illinois
    has a Definite advantage Inside......

    DEFENSE

Illinois is holding opponents to 41 % from the floor
in shooting and no team has scored more than 65
points in any game. 6 of the last 9 opponents
    have scored under 60 points......

What is more impressive is the Defense in the
second Half of the game....With the exception of GTOWN
which was held to 13 first half points last night,
opponents are being held to 28 points second half points.

Illinois will play both ends of the floor, and I think
this will be to much for Oregon to contend with....

    MY FINAL THOUGHT

    FATIGUE

A major concern.....a rough cross country trip in an Illinois BLIZZARD
8 games in 17 days..... This is a well conditioned team and
I will give the fatigue factor a 5 on the 10 point scale

    HOW TO HANDLE OREGON

Illinois will throw Randle on Harriston the big question
is when will randle pick up his third foul....

Look for Illinois to pound it inside and force
    the foul and the boards.......

Illinois Defense will be just to much for Oregon
to contend with for 40 minutes.....

The PAC 10 seems to be way down this year
and I just dont see Oregon being that good of a team
    after careful review....

    MY SELECTION

My numbers show Illinois by 3

Illinois tired, beaten and feeling their Oats will not lose
    at Oregon on Saturday

I love the UNDER in this game at 137 (DEFENSE)

And the 2.0 we will give up as a chalk

ILLINOIS -2.0 and the UNDER at 137

    Good Luck to all

I sort of like Oregon and i think will rebound from the horrible GTOWN loss, but right now, I'm staying away from Illinois just for the mere fact they have the offense (not like last year of course) but this year they DO HAVE a DEFENSE!!! That freshamn guard Smith will one day be a top national player...he is very sweet

Now Illinois (9-0) is calling, sporting a high ranking, a runner-up finish in last season's NCAA Tournament and the confidence that it beat these same Ducks -- almost to the man -- 83-66 last season in Champagne, Ill. On paper, the game has "loss" written all over it.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      1) Champagne?!?!?!?

      2) Game was in Chicago at the UC last year

Nice to see this writer took time to get his facts straight before writing the article

Playing their 10th game in 24 days (and finishing 10-0)
Coach Weber was concerned with fatigue

The chalk Board in the Locker room read 3 words
          ENERGY, EFFORT, ENTHUSIASM.........

The Fighting Illini dismantled Oregon by 30

Unstopable inside and Dee Brown was Mr Respect
when it came to controlling the game scoring a
          game high 26 points.

DEFENSE was as predicted a SOLID BRICK WALL
          holding Oregon to 59 points.....

          NEXT UP FOR ILLINOIS

A week off......The coach will use this week to work
on the motion offense.....Once the motion offense takes hold
combined with the solid Defense this squad has this team will
be very hard to beat ...

          SCHEDULE

12-18 Coppin State Illinois by 30

12-21 Missouri (st louis) Braggin rights game Ill by 12

          SE Missouri state....IL by 16

          Tenn Martin....Ill by 32

I see Illinois going 14-0 into the opening game of
the Big Ten Against Michigan State January 5 2006

          Good Luck to all
