  • Lakers vs Wizards Game Thread

    Lakers -5

The Lakers are emotionally as high as they have been since winning in the Western Conference Finals 2 years ago.

Obviously back then that was a much of a different team with triangle Phil-Kobe-Shaq running their triangle offence. Sadly it all fell apart … but the good news is that Phil Jackson is back and the Lakers (with 12-10 record) are seemingly clicking again. Having a tough 6-game roadtrip should have been anything but pleasant, but LA just exploded and went with a 5-1 record. Saying that the Lakers have won Memphis, Dallas and Milwaukee while playing away already says something, but how they won those games speaks even more. Milwaukee was blown away by 19 points, Memphis by 15 points and just an incrediable perfomace from K. Bryant secured their win over the Mavericks. When even guys like Kwame Brown start produce (he scored season high 12 points against the Grizzlies) you know that things are going uphill for the Lakers.

When the Lakers is coming from a long roadtrip to play their first home game, then the Wizards will enter 5-game road trip tonight. Although having a solid record of 9-11 so far the Wizards are really struggling team when it comes to playing away games. They won their first two away games playing against two weak teams – Toronto and Knicks, but ever since their away record is pathetic 1-7. Their leader Gilbert Arenas didn’t play because of lower back bruise the other day, but is probable for tonights game.

With ot without Arenas, the Wizards will have difficult times here (Kobe as a very solid defender should be able to easily control Arenas anyway). Kwame Brown will face first time his former team, from where he left with some “bad blood”. He will try to prove some things tonight. Expect the Lakers to carry on their momentum and secure an easy win here. Medium stakes on spreadline –5.0 points!
