PITTSBURGH VS. INDIANAPOLIS
While I'm still one of the few that are not convinced that the Indianapolis Colts are shoo-in for this year's Lombardi Trophy, you've gotta hand it to this team for how they've handled themselves and the improvement they've made during the season.......Sure, they've played a mediocre schedule and all, but they actually seemed bored at various times and quite franky sleepwalked through the last month of the season......These guys are due to explode at any moment, and the high number posted by the Vegas "corporate gurus" indicate that the moment is now.......The Monday Night game that took place between the two of these about six weeks ago was a pretty accurate scenario of things to come.......The Steelers played a pretty hard game throughout, but were simply outclassed by a far superior team.
Sure, the Cowher-coached squad showed a lot of heart last week when coming from behind on the road against the high-poised Bengals.....but playing against a John Kitna-led offense is just a little bit different than buckin' heads with a guy named Peyton Manning.....just a little.
Look for the Colts to attack early and often with their underrated defense, and coast late.....Colts 31...Steelers 10.
CAROLINA VS. CHICAGO
The toughest game on the weekend is saved for last......There is really not a whole lot separating these two clubs.....and the way the Panthers have played lately, you really can't discount them just because they play this one in Chicago......especially since forecasters aren't calling for the typical frostbite-ridden swirling winds......The Bears defense needs no introduction, having given up only 61 points at home the entire year.....You might go as far as saying that the first team to score 10 points might advance on to the NFC championship.......This one is a hard one to call, but if I had to, I'd say it might end up 13-3 Chicago, depending on how well Rex Grossman handles this step-up in class.....Luck will decide this contest, since these two teams are more evenly-matched than any of the other games on the menu......Best of luck to all of my fellow players......Boone.
