Heat -11
The Heat are starting to get that old feeling back - the feeling that when they defend well, they will win. Miami has won 4 of last 5 games, however they lost the latest one against the “home winning” Nets. It was a close game considering the fact Shaquille O'Neal scored 11 points with 4-14 from the field, Gary Payton had 0 points with 0-for-6 shooting and the Heat played without their starting PF Udonis Haslem.
Don't expect the Heat having two bad shooting games in a row, especially when playing against the Celtics defense. They can thrash Boston simply by focusing their offense around the low post. O`Neal was angry at the way he played against the Nets and he surely has something to prove tonight.
Not really much to say about the Celtics. They are one of the weakest away teams in the East and already in the middle of the February their play-off hopes are starting to vanish. The Celtics latest defeat came against Orlando, which means they are 1-5 since acquiring Wally Szczerbiak from Minnesota. They are still one of the league's worst in rebounding and will have their problems in defending and rebounding today against Miami. At the low post Kendrick Perkins just cant match his opponents energy and power and will be over-rebounded and over-scored. The injury of Al Jefferson is another problem that leaves the team even less inside presence.
Boston should be concerned with how to slow down the Heat cause things are starting to come together for Miami. The Heat have advantages both in defense and offense and they are much better overall team. Expect coach Riley finding ways to exploit the Heat obvious edge in the low post and get the ball inside since Boston doesn’t have any answers there. In the backcourt Dwyane Wade is just enough to match Pierce`s scoring desire so handicap –11 will be taken with medium stakes.
