  • Dragon1952 - CFB Week 3 .....early plays

    CFB through Week 2
    11-5 sides (.69%)
    2-2 totals (.50%)

    It's a little early but...........

Minnesota -42 vs Temple - Temple put up 3 pts of offense against pathetic Buffalo and then got trounced at home vs Louisville 62-0. The Louisville score could have been even worse as the score was 42-0 at halftime, which could be the case again this week.

Northwestern -17 vs E. Michigan - E. Michigan's 3rd road game in a row to start off the season. They've lost by 18 @ Ball St. and by 32 @ Mich. St. Looking for Northwestern to bounce back after their embarrassing 3 turnover effort at home last week vs a pretty darn good New Hampshire team (the highest ranked team by far in the Atlantic 10)

Wisconsin -14 vs San Diego St. - S.D. St. lost their starting QB in their first game (at home) against MWC foe UTEP. The game was really not as close as the final score of 34-27 would indicate. Now they travel to Wisconsin who's got 2 solid wins so far by 21 and 24 against similar competition.

Pittsburgh -2.5 vs Michigan St. - Pittsburgh looking good on both offense and defense so far with very solid wins over Virginia and Cincinnati. Michigan St.'s first road game before 9 Big 10 games in a row starting next week vs Notre Dame! If I'm reading the schedule right they don't even get a bye week....ouch! Anyway I think Pitt should be able to cover a FG at home the way they're playing.

Miami (Fla) +4 @ Louisville - I've gone back and forth with this one a few times but I can't believe Miami won't cover this if not win outright. They don't want 2 losses this early in the season and should be fired up. Kentucky actually moved the ball pretty good against Louisville for awhile (and we didn't expect Temple to score anyway....they can't even score against Buffalo!). We'll see how Louisville does against a first rate defense and Miami should be able to score lots of points too.

Clemson +4 @ Florida State - I'm not convinced Florida State is that great. They scored 13 against Miami and damn near got beat by Troy last week in their own backyard, although it was a 'sandwich' game for them. Clemson lost a heartbreaker @ Boston College last week in 2OT's and were actually favored in that game. Clemson's got a ton of returning starters this year on both sides of the ball.

Dragon..I believe we may have been cut from the same mold...I was with ya untill the FSU game...FSU plays down to lesser opponents..they did come off a physical and emotional match up with Miami..a game they probably should have lost..they should be running on all 8 cylinders this week and take Clemson by at least 10..

        That's OK...you're allowed to disagree :^P
BTW, the line on that one is now Clemson +5 (sports.com). Clemson might be a little dinged up but I think they will stay close....we'll see!
Time to update the 'ol record. W.V./Maryland easily covered the over tonite combining for 69 pts so that boosts my modest 'Totals' record a little.
        CFB through Thursday 9/14:
        Sides 11-5 (69%)
        Totals 3-2 (60%)

I'm going to add another big favorite to my other games.

Virginia Tech -35 vs Duke - V.Tech beat Duke LY 45-0 on the road so you'd think they could do the same again at home this time. Duke has zero running game and V.Tech defense had 4 picks vs N. Carolina last week so they can probably just tee off on the QB. No big game coming up to distract V. Tech so no reason not to mutilate Duke in front of the home crowd. Duke got shutout by AA Richmond fer cryin' out loud!

Only about 1/2 hr to gametime (but really who's betting on these anyway )I'm adding:

          USC -17
          Missouri -14

          Update for today:
Not real terrific so far today

          Minnesota -41 WON
          Virginia Tech -35 WON
          Oregon/Oklahoma OV 50.5 WON
Wisconsin -14 PUSH (Although anyone betting on this probably won as the line went to 13.5 right after I posted this and eventually went down as far as 11.5)
          Miami +4 LOST
          Pittsburgh -2.5 LOST
          Northwestern -17 LOST

I need Clemson to bail me out a little

              CFB to date:
              16-9-1 sides
              4-2 totals

Get this...Wisconsin rushes for 287 yds!!! and has a total yard edge of 372-115 and a time of possession edge of 9 minutes, pitches a shutout, and only gets a freakin push at -14

Northwestern holds E. Michigan to 124 total yds total!!! 5 first downs!!! and rushes for 156 yds with a 6:30 min time of possession advantage, holds them to 6 freakin pts total but can only manage 14 pts at home and an 8 pt win.

The Missouri Tigerettes hold New Mexico to 201 total yds, get 3 turnovers and 8 sacks, rush for almost 200 yds with almost 400 yds total offense, and only eek out a 10 pt win after giving up a stinking garbage TD with 25 secs left.

              Scew me!
