NO Prize this week - but try and beat us anyways
Colts at Jets - Pesky pesky pesky. Don't look now but the J-E-T-S jets jets jets are 2-1. A look at their schedule shows a 10 win season wouldn't be the biggest shocker in the world as the certainly have 10 "winnable" games ahead. A huge win over the Colts would make it that much more attainable. We don't think they'll get 10 wins and we don't think they will be the Colts as they are overmatched. But hey, they'll try like hell. Free Pick - Jets +10
Chargers at Ravens - With two of the better defenses in the NFL doing battle here we have to think points will be at a premium. Both of these teams have played cupcakes so far so far with the edge going to the Ravens with their road win last week over the Browns. We're convinced the Ravens defense is for real. Not sure about the Bolts. Gotta take the spot with the home dog in this one. Free Pick - Ravens +2.5
Vikings at Bills - Another one of our "pesky" teams the Bills. The pesky part comes in when playing superior teams and hanging in the games. But losing to the Jets at home, well, that takes some of the pesky-ness away. In a game here against the Vikings where we are asked to simply pick a straight up winner, we have to side with the team that has more talent and has looked better overall this year. Free Pick - Vikings +1
Cowboys at Titans - At this point it's looking like T.O will sit out this game and will make his return against Philly the following week. T.O adds a whole new dimension to a team. It's not necessarily the plays he has the potential to make. It's just the fact that he's on the field period that can wreak havoc with a defense and their preparation. This is a weak call but early in the week here, we'll stick our neck out and take the Titans to play tough enough to get the cover. Free Pick - Titans +10
49ers at Chiefs - This Chiefs team on paper going into this year looked like it would light up the scoreboard this year. So what have they done? They have scored a whopping 16 points in two games. Good ol conservative Herm Edwards. He kept the Jets from playing up to their potential and now looks like he is working his magic in KC. San Fran on the other hand is managing to put some points on the board and has been somewhat competitive thus far. But we're going to give Herm and the Chiefs one more shot at looking like the Chiefs of 2005. After all it's pretty much the same offense, man for man. Either this will be their break out game and they'll put 40 points on the board, or Herm Edwards has got to go. Free Pick - Chiefs -7
Saints at Panthers - WhoDat, gonna beat those Saints, WhoDat, Who Dat! Remember that one? At the very least this game comes down to the wire and it's a field goal game. Have to be very careful playing this one for real though. Just as the emotional edges are very real in sports, so too are the emotional let downs and the Saints are set up here for a letdown after that huge emotional Monday Nighter. But the number is too high here. Free Pick - Saints +7
Cardinals at Falcons - Bounce back time? Don't like this game one bit. As an early look, the -7 seems a bit high as we're really not sure about the Falcons at this point. We'll take a shot here - Free Pick - Falcons -7
Dolphins at Texans - In case anyone hasn't noticed, the Dolphins really aren't that good. Of course neither are the Texans. But we simply can't trust the fish in the role of favorite at this point. If you're the Texans, this is one of your few chances to get into the win column this year so expect a big effort. Free Pick - Texans +4
Lions at Rams - Lions desperate here. 0-3 and staring 0-4 right in the face. Have to feel that they have a shot against the Rams here as the Rams aren't exactly lighting up the scoreboard. Another weak call for us here but we're going to side with the Lions here. Free Pick - Lions +6
Patriots at Bengals - We've been saying all year that the Pats are on the decline and the Sunday night affair against the Broncos should firm up that belief. This is another chance for the Bengals to make a statement. They have the potential for at least 11 wins this year. But it's games like this one, at home against a decent team that are crucial for their long term success. The Bengals are a Super Bowl contender this year. The Pats barely sqeuaked by the Bills in week one. This one goes to the Super Bowl contender easier than expected. Free Pick - Bengals -6
Jaguars at Redskins - Interesting game here. Jags have played a tough schedule so far and are still 2-1 with their lone setback coming last week against the high powered Colts. But Joe Gibbs had these Redskins in the playoffs last year and it's hard for us to imagine they won't be in the thick of things again this year. If that's to be the case, they have to win these home games. Another home loss would be devastating for the Skins. They surprise and win this one straight up. Free Pick - Redskins +3 -120
Browns at Raiders - Don't like this one very much. But we just took a look at all of our early looks and noticed that we have quite a few dogs. Gotta work the favorites in somewhere. Why not against a team that has been outscored 55-6! Free Pick - Browns -2.5
Seahawks at Bears - What a great match up. Is this the NFC title game? Seattle stumbled out of the gate by squeaking by the Lions in week one but last week they lit up the scoreboard against the Giants and sent a message to the rest of the league. But there is a WORLD of difference between the Bears defense and the Giants defense. We LOVE the Bears this year. Good defense wins championships and now with a little spark in the offense the Bears look to have all the pieces of the puzzle in place. Other than the Bengals game last year where the Bears gave up 24 points, the rest of the year at home saw them give up, 6, 3, 6, 9, 3, 7, and 3. Then they failed to show up in the playoffs and lost an uncharacteristic shoot out to the Panthers. But those point totals are impressive. You can say they played a weak schedule, but hey, this is the NFL baby! They didn't just hold a few teams to those numbers. They pretty much swept the board. Expect the fact that Seattle hung 40 on the Giants to motivate this defense even more. The Bears may only need a field goal to cover this number. Free Pick - Bears -2.5
Packers at Eagles - What a lousy Monday Nighter. Bottom line here. In our opinion, if the Eagles don't blow the Packers off the field on Monday Night, they are going nowhere. So, we will see. Since we pegged them as a playoff team, we won't bail out just yet. Free Pick - Eagles -10.5
