DALLAS — A police report says Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide by taking pain medication. Owens reportedly put two more pills into his mouth even after fire rescue personnel arrived.

A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told rescue workers "that he was depressed." The report was first released by WFAA-TV.

The rescue worker "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.

The worker attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. The worker then asked Owens "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes.'"

The 32-year-old player broke his right hand Sept. 17 against the Washington Redskins.

Owens had surgery the following day.

Initial reports indicated Owens was hospitalized last night after a reaction to pain medication.

Just for the record - word out of cowboys camp is that this was not a suicide attempt.

They said he mistakenly took the pain pills which he thought were "supplements".

      Press conference at 230pm est

      Stay tuned.

The soap opera continues. I'll for sure be watching Bill's press conference today. It's usually great entertainment even on a slow news day, so today should be insane!

Since I'm a Cowboy fan, I'm gonna give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I took a Vicodin once for toothache pain and it was about the same relaxation level as drinking 6 beers. If this guy "accidentally" took quite a few of these thinking they were vitamins or whatever, then I think anything he tells the cops about his intentions to harm himself could just be the pills talking.

Another thing to remember is that this guy has always seemed to be a narcissist. Why would you try to harm the person you loved the most?

Im really not buying any of this at all. Theres no way he tried to kill himself. In the past ive read where he has had bad reactions to pain killers. This is just th media blowing up another story. This is the exact reason why I dont turn Espn on as much any more. Its polluted with trash. You know if he really did tried to kill himself dont you think the media is going over the top with the T.O. Suicide. The fact that a friend went to the media and said this makes it even more strange. Im not saying anyone is right or wrong but I will say that the sports media is getting out of hand of stalking such big names as Barry Bonds and Terrel Owens. I believe most understand that when you tune into Espn at what ever time that you go to see scores and highlights not the damn gossip of the new steroid scandal. Anyways I guess we will see what the real story is shortly.

I disagree with this being engineered to increase ticket sales. The Cowboys have sold out 121 consecutive home games dating back to the 1990 season, it doesn't get much better than that.

What I would consider is that ESPN, CBS Sportsline, WFAA, and all of the other media hounds love these huge speculative stories. "Dirty laundry" as it's called greatly increases the number of readers/viewers for these websites and news channels. It should be common knowledge that the more viewers that a website or news channel has the more it can charge companies for advertising spots.

We know that T.O. loves the spotlight, but I don't think that he intended for this to spiral out of control like it did.

I think this was all done by the guys who fix one NFL game every week.

All the players and coaches are in on it too.

                        But they won't talk.
