The Detroit Lions have released Corey Bradford in order to use his roster spot for offensive tackle Blaine Saipaia to help compensate for injured players. Bradford was signed in the offseason to a $7.4 million contract with a $2 million signing bonus.

At a press conference held Wednesday afternoon, Cowboys WR Terrell Owens denied a police report stating that he tried to commit suicide and said that he became groggy after mixing a generic form of Vicodin with all-natural supplements. "It's very unfortunate for it to go from an allergic reaction to a suicide attempt," he said, adding that he's "not depressed about anything." Owens, who was wearing workout gear and had no bandage on his broken right hand, was generally upbeats and said that he should be able to play on Sunday.

The Bengals will have to survive another month without starting C Rich Braham, who suffered a deep bruise to his left knee on Sept. 17 against the Browns. Head coach Marvin Lewis stated that Braham may not return for at least a few more weeks. Braham will continue to be spelled by second-year C Eric Ghiaciuc.

There is an outside chance that Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander will play on Sunday against the Bears despite learning on Monday that he has a very small crack in a bone on his left foot. Alexander's foot reportedly stopped hurting on Tuesday, a turn of events to which he credited the power of prayer. He will undergo additional tests today to learn if the crack has indeed healed.

Jets head coach Eric Mangini gave RB Kevan Barlow his first start with the team on Sunday, but it was rookie RB Leon Washington who made the biggest impact in the Jets' backfield. Washington started the third quarter and finished the game with nine touches for 77 yards. His 47-yard catch-and-scamper off a screen pass set up the Jets' first touchdown in the second quarter. Barlow, meanwhile, finished the game with 12 carries for 31 yards (2.6 yards-per-carry) and one TD.

Updating a previous news item - according to a Dallas police report obtained by WFAA-TV News 8, Cowboys WR Terrell Owens may have attempted suicide on Tuesday night. The report states that Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. Owens broke his right hand Sept. 17 in a game against the Washington Redskins. A Dallas Cowboys spokesman declined comment on the police report to News 8. No news conference has been scheduled. Earlier reports stated that Owens had a reaction to the painkillers he was taking for the broken bone in his hand and was ushered to the emergency room to induce vomiting.

Believe it or not, the Broncos officially have a true No. 1 running back. On Saturday night, Head coach Mike Shanahan told Tatum Bell that he would no longer share carries with rookie RB Mike Bell, and Bell responded on Sunday with a huge performance in the Broncos' road win against the Patriots. In that game, Bell had a career-high 27 carries for 123 yards. Typically a late fader, Bell ran hard throughout the game, including nine rushing attempts in the fourth quarter.
