Are they really that bad. There setting up for a big blow up. No way they can hold them off now. I guess time will tell.

Yeah, they are not good overall right now and its showing. #1 its their starting pitching. Marquis blows up every other outing for the 6 runs in 2 innings crap. Carpenter pitches a good game but Larussa leaves him in for 122 pitches and he finally leaves one up enough to get him and the team a loss. Suppan has been consistent. Weaver has been a good surprise. And Reyes is agressive but young.

Think they are done unless Pujouls can save them once again and he has the talent to do it. Besides him, bunch of comfortable players who are just coasting right now. Rolen acts like he cares but puts too much pressure on himslef and ultimately sucks when it counts.

From 6 games to .5 in a matter on 10 games. Hope they hold them off so we don;t have to hear the Clemens last horrah story thru the playoffs. Would bet against the cards right now if I were anyone.

Great analysis they really are just going through the motions. Wow does Larussa stay if they dont make the playoffs. Houstons hot and there my team (i really like the rangers better but i dont tell anyone .... lol) Houston could be really dangerous in the playoffs. If you look back the lalst couple of years the teams fighting to get into the playoffs usually dont screw around in the playoffs. If Houston makes it to the playoffs i have to say that they would be my favorite especially in a short series. I really like Minnesota to but Im not sure what Lirianos status is or if he will even be available. I always root for the underdogs in the baseball playoffs. But to state the obvious you can never count the yanks out. They have done alot of fighting this year and there going into the playoffs healthier then the regular season. I cant wait its my favorite time of the year. Playoff baseball is what its all about. Its hard to choose this time of year football or baseball. Cant wait.

Hang in there Woodee......The Redbirds are reeling, that's for sure.......but they'll win tonight (Weaver and all)......It's true that Tony La Russa is probably the most overrated manager in the history of the game.....Heck I think he might have won 1 World Series in all these years despite the fact of having some of the best teams ever assembled........Even when he was with Oakland, his team would finish with the best record in baseball every year, but find a way to blow it in the playoffs.....he tends to OVERmanage.......Just like he's doing in St. Louis.

I'm with you on the Roger Clemens hoopla crap.....I mean he's a great guy and in the Hall of Fame for sure, but he should have never come back....at the current, he's a mediocre pitcher at best, but like you said....the media loves to gobble up his nutsack and drool over his past accomplishments......enough already...let it go.

By the way "jpehl".....Liriano's finished for the year and that's a shame since he was one of the most exciting rookies to come along in a while....especially in a year where there are so many good ones.....The Twins will be tough in the playoffs anyway having the momentum they carry into the post-season.......they're on a roll.

To sum it all up however, I think the World Series winner will come from the west coast for a change, and I'm not betting with my heart.....The Dodgers and Padres are playing great ball under pressure right now.....and the Athletics have very good line-up too.....If their pitching holds together, they could take it all.....It should be fun.

If I were to bet with my heart.....I'd be betting on the Dodgers and the Yankees......Ahh, the great traditons of baseball........Good Luck guys.
          ;)

Nice call on that "Over Manage" thing. Thats exactly right and exactly what he does. Does not play by his gut and too 'by the book'. They won tonight with Pujoul;s being the man again. Take Pujouls off that team and we're talking to the cubs fans in the cellar. Should be co-MVPs with Howard and him I think!

Thanks for the update on Liriano I was pretty sure he was out but didnt know for sure. I guess the question is where have i been . lol! Well i have to say that i dont see oakland going they normally make it and just have bad luck in the playoffs. Well the cards flashed signs of life tonight i guess thats better than what they have been doing. The media kills me at times at how they get on a subject and just cant get off. The whole summer it seemed like espn was polluted with steroid. bonds.and owens storys. Jeez i use to always have the tv on espn but now i dont even turn it on. Hopefully it will get better in the future but i dont see it happening.
