  • MLB Playoff Thread-Not the contest-Discussion

I am going to post my Playoff plays here and feel free to chime in with your too. Did this last yera and nmade some money with everyone's views and thoughts. I seem to have a good playoff run as the games are narrowed down and I watch about all of them.

    Play #1:

STL/SD UNDER 8 (-147 bought 1-run at Pinny)...The obvious play but I still like it. Carpenter rested and pitching well as Peavey is too. Bats may be a little quiet early and playting in spacious PETCO helps too.

Probably a pretty good call. If you look at Peavey's last 10 starts....actually if you throw out the game at Colorado.......he's given up only 16 earned runs in 9 games and only 4 homers. He really seems to step up in games like this too.
Carpenter's been a little more erratic. In his last 10 he's pitched 6 gems and 4 stinkers. Carpenter's usually good for at least 7 and lots of times 8 or 9 innings, whereas Bochy likes to stick his stellar bullpen out there around the 7th to set things up for Trevor time.
Figure with the extra adrenaline the 2 should be extra sharp. If St Louis doesn't strike for some runs by the 7th they probably can't count on much from there on out. The Pads had lots of those 2-1 and 3-1 type games down the stretch too.
    Good luck!

I love Minn. at over 5-1 to win the World Series - If they make it out of the AL then it's over!!!

They'd have a chance if Santana could pitch every game, but after he goes, what do you do?........With Liriano out for the year, the Twins are gonna have to rely heavily on their bats to pull this thing out.....Just my opinion.

Not much of a chance at all for the world series, NoName. Honestly don't think they'll make it out of the Pads series. Going to try to cap their games without a emotional interest and that will be hard...so may not play on them too much but will look at thier O/U. Seems like even when their starters have a goo outing the bullpen messes it up and we don;t even have a legit closer now that Issi is out-which may actually be better b/c he blew some importnant games this year. Bullpens are usually the key to advancind and their Bullpen is way below average.

If Rolen can get Hot and protect Pujouls a bit then the offense will help out. But if he pulls his playoff invisable 3rd basmam act, we are screwed. Boche will not let Albert beat him.

Basically going with the prove me wrong attitude. The last couple years, i 've had high expectations and they didn't do it, so maybe this year will be different.

1-0 so far with a close win on the under.
              +1 unit

Liked thew tigers tonight but forgot to post but they got PPD either way.

              Thursday:

SD Padres -143 over STL...Think pads win with back up agaist the wall heading to STL. Weaver is a go against pitcher from the start. Not sold on some of his recent outings that he has changed enough to back him on the road. Cards BP is rested since Johnson and Wainwright are the only ones who pitched in game 1. Just scared that weaver gets rocked, they bring in Marquis for long relief, puts 6 ER on the board and its over. And thats what I see happening. Early out for Weaver, Bad Cards BP, Pads win. Wells allows 5 runs but thats still fine b/c the pads scored 10. Over maybe?

Anyway, cards are my team so may be over-managing like Larussa, but my $$$ is on the Pads.
