    Verron Haynes - RB, Pittsburgh Steelers 11/2/2006

    RB Verron Haynes has been lost for the season and placed on the injured reserve list by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Haynes was injured in last Sunday's game against the Raiders when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

    Shawne Merriman - LB, San Diego Chargers 11/2/2006

    LB Shawne Merriman dropped his appeal for violating the NFL's drug testing policy. Merriman will serve a 4-game suspension starting this Sunday when the Chargers play the Cleveland Browns. "Yes, I did something unknowingly, but at the same time I did something that was against the policy," Merriman said. Last years defensive rookie of the year will have to stay away from the Chargers headquarters and not be allowed to participate in any team practices until November 27th. "I'm not a cheater," he said. "I don't believe in cheating the game, I don't condone cheating the game, I have no reason to cheat the game. I'm about playing football and I'm a great football player. ... I will go out and be the best football player possible and be known as one of the best to ever play."

    Pacman Jones - CB, Tennessee Titans 11/2/2006

    The Tennessee Titans have suspended CB Pacman Jones for 1 game due to problems arising off the field. Jones was charged with assault last week when he spit on a woman at a local night spot. The Titans have seen Jones go through situtions like this before but this seems to have raised the Ire of the team as the problems persist. The club indicated that Jones' suspension will be for this weeks game when the Titans play Jacksonville. There will also be a "significant financial consideration" designed to get the 2nd year player's attention. "This is the defining moment in his career," Fisher said.
