FIRST BETTING LINE ON OHIO STATE-USC BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AVAILABLE AT PINNACLESPORTS.COM
Leading Online Sportsbook Lists Buckeyes As 5.5 Point Favorites In Title Game

WILLEMSTAD, CURACAO (November 27, 2006)-Although the BCS Championship Game is still over one month away, college football fans and members of the media have been debating which teams deserve the opportunity to play for the national championship for weeks. After beating archrival Michigan in their regular season finale, Ohio State secured their spot atop the BCS rankings and earned the right to play in the title game. Meanwhile, Saturday night's win over Notre Dame moved USC to number two in the BCS, leapfrogging previously second-ranked Michigan. With the Trojans needing only to beat cross-town rival UCLA to qualify for the BCS Championship Game, PinnacleSports.com became the first sportsbook in the world to offer a betting line on a potential national title game match-up between USC and Ohio State.

The largest sports betting site on the Internet, PinnacleSports.com first posted the betting line on USC and Ohio State meeting in the January 8th BCS Championship Game only minutes after the Trojans defeated Notre Dame Saturday night. PinnacleSports.com originally opened the game with Ohio State listed as a 4.5 point favorite, but after only one day of betting, the line has already moved and the Buckeyes are now favored by 5.5 points over the Trojans. The oddsmakers have also posted the over/under line on the total amount of points scored in the potential USC-Ohio State BCS Championship Game which is currently listed at 53 points.

'The convincing 20 point victory over Notre Dame pushed USC into the second spot in the rankings, and barring an upset by 13.5 point underdogs UCLA this Saturday, the Trojans will be playing in its third consecutive BCS title game against undefeated Ohio State on January 8th,' said Simon Noble of PinnacleSports.com. 'Although Pete Carroll's Trojans have posted three consecutive wins over ranked teams, Ohio State will enter the BCS Championship Game with an unblemished record and the top spot in the rankings. If early betting is any indication, our players appear to believe that the Buckeyes will capture their second national title under head coach Jim Tressel.'

Looks like we'll be debating this one for another month, at least........But just to get it started, it's no secret that the Pac-10 teams have man-handled the slower athletes from the midwest's Big 10 Conference over the years.

I remember when the two champion teams from these conferences would traditionally meet in the Rose Bowl (before the dreaded BCS took control), and the west coast teams, the speedier of the two, would dish out their annual ass-whipping on the poor souls from the Big 10......They'd come out here and go to Disneyland, catch a glimpse of the Hollywood life, and then out-eat us in the annual beef-eating contest at Lawry's ( a prime-rib house in Burbank), and then not be able to move to well on game day..........Although this game isn't being played on the West coast, it shouldn't matter............This game figures to be no exception, just more of the same.......Go Trojans !!

This is not your daddy's Big 10 team.

They can still win the beef eating contest, but when they show 5 receiver sets, the speed (or lack thereof) of the SC lb's will show. I've watched SC play 5 times and I just can't see their defense being able to keep Smith from
                the endzone alot of times.

The days of 3 yards and a cloud of dust are long gone.

Brutus, my son........pull your head out.......If you had possibly (from your satellite) seen USC play once , let alone 4 times, then you're obviously hallucinating........These men are playing against boys!!!!!......They fell asleep against the hungry Beavers at Oregon State in a hostile atmosphere, and that was a wake up call that cannot be argued with.......Check out the stats that the Trojans have piled up since that fiasco!!!........The Michigan team is the same mediocre team that has hit the field for the last 10 years!!!!.....and Ohio State was all-out to beat them!!!!.........What's gonna happen when they meet a REAL football team that is not only twice as fast, but has all the tools and weapons to run circles around the "Big Ten" program.......Same old losing coaches, same old losing programs.........Get real pal, the West Coast offense is not only what champions are made of, it's what SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS are made of......You heard it here first pal.......Don't say you weren't warned.......AGAIN !!!!!..........Love, Boone.

You know Boone i think im going to side with you on this one. Ive been thinking the same thing. I disagreed with you on the WS but im going to ride with you on this one. The sad thing is that we have to wait so damn long. The college BCS format is such a mess, its sad. Maybe one day they will figure out that the public wants a playoff system. Speaking of Super Bowls my boys are headed in the right direction. ROMO MVP.

Hey man, Romo has made such a splash on the NFL scene, that Mike Shanahan is going to use his rookie ace Jay Cutler to start (or should I say "jump-start") his own Denver Broncos this weekend against the Seahawks........What the heck, what does he have to lose?.........Hell, Romo's been so good, that on Thanksgiving Day, my brother was asking me who the Dallas backup quarterback was !!..........How easy it is to forget the name "Drew Bledsoe" when things are going so good without him.................This weekend's game is going to be a true test for your boys, but if they can pass it somehow, then I'd have to say that they are one of the teams to beat for the NFC title this year........They are definitely in for a tough game though............Good Luck to you man, and I'll post again later in the week.

Pac-10 is a bunch of soft cupcakes. When they (along with the Big-10) have a conference championship game like the real conferences have then maybe they will get nationwide respect.

Two out of the last three National Titles would show tantamount respect where I come from....... just who are these other conferences you're speaking of?.......You mean the ones that take turns beating each other every week, hence they have to have a conference title game or "showdown" like these media clowns refer to it as, just to have someone come out on top.......Hell, they all end up 6-6 each year so they can't figure out who to send to a bowl game, if anybody.................Not so out here my son, USC dominates the best of the best, year in and year out, and then continue on to dismantle whoever they lead over here.

Good Luck to you saddened mid-westerners, I hate to tell you that you're in for more of the same.....But don't get mad, get even........Place yourself a small investment on the Trojans here and celebrate with the rest of us.......Just to feel some belonging.

Fell asleep against Oregon St. That's what you call it, huh?
Yea, they really scorhed after that loss against that juggernaut, Stanford.
An overrated (as usual) Cal team. Wake me when they get their next win in a big game.
                              An even more overrated ND?
                              Oregon?

Yea, SC sure seems to have alot of speed. Especially when Brady Quinn and his Mike Vick-type legs ran for 60 yards on one play.

Their defense is the reason they lost last year and the same reason they'll lose this year.

Hey, I like watching PAC-10 football. It's just like the Arena league: alot of scoring and no defense.

Don't bet too much on SC, you'll need alot to put down on the Raiders in the Super Bowl. That West Coast offense really worked for them in the SB against the Buccaneers, didn't it?
